駅から少し歩きますが、夜は大変静かで過ごしやすいと思います。部屋が4部屋ということもあり、朝夕ゆったりするには良いと思います。部屋のエアコンは自由に設定できます。窓のブラインドが使いにくいので、こちらは早めに直した方が良いと思います。清掃は全体的にはできていると思います。1点前の宿泊者の方のものか、一部衣類の忘れ物があったので、ベットの下はもう少し見た方が良いです。
部屋は思った以上に広いですね。お風呂も十分な広さあり。接客も気持ちよいです。

部屋、トイレ、バス　すべてきれいで清潔なホテルでした。そして静かで快適に過ごすことができました。家族3人1泊でしたが、大満足です。次も又利用したいです。

静かな良いホテル

エスノグラフィーホテルは東山三条に続いて二回目でした。
東山三条のスタッフの方から枳穀の杜がお薦めで、朝食もフレンチレストランからのお取り寄せだと伺い、こちらに予約を致しました。
残念ながら、朝食の業者が変わってしまい、東山三条と同じだという事でしたので、今回は朝食なしのプランに致しました。
東本願寺の飛び地、渉成園の横にあり、とても静かな環境で、ゆっくり過ごす事が出来ました。

とてもリラックスでき非日常を満喫出来ました。至福の一時で友人にサプライズだったので感激してもらえました。一つ残念な事は庭のブロック、右側にある扉も和風な雰囲気に作り上げられていたらもっと最高だったと思いました。また利用したいです。

建屋はこぢんまりとしていますが、部屋は広くとても落ち着ける空間でした。

Gem in Kyoto

Two night stay with my partner. The hotel had a very authentic Japanese atmosphere and the staff was friendly. The room was tidy and spacious and we really enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely lovely little hotel, that offers spacious rooms ( hard to find in big cities of Japan). Front desk hours are well pronounced, and there was always someone at those hours. Its only few rooms hotel, so do not expect an attendances or room service. If you are looking for spacious, two beds room, this is a great find. There was a refrigerator in the room, bathtub and shower and everything you need, easy to find, great location

Nice place

The room was very large and nice. Good location. Four stars because the staff was around only at odd hours. Very difficult getting help. They provided us with incorrect information about their ability to help us transfer our luggage from Kyoto to the airport.

Quiet hotel off the beaten path, HARD beds

Pros: quiet, clean and modern, relatively large room, nice lighting, affordable

Cons: limited front desk hours, window faces a wall, heater was malfunctioning, beds were harder than other Japanese hotels

I liked the aesthetic of this hotel room, but I won’t stay again due to the uncomfortable beds. I like a firm mattress, but this felt like sleeping on a slab of concrete.

That, coupled with a heater that wasn’t working, is the reason for the 3-star review.

In questa location si è nel centro della città senza remdersene conto. Silenziosa fuori dal traffico e le camere sono veramente spaziose e comode. In 3 mn si è alla metropolitana verde oalla fermata del bus che porta a gion. Tutto perfetto complimenti.

Our daughter recommended Hotel Ethnography as she stayed here a few weeks before us. It is a charming hotel, great value for money and highly recommended. We received a warm welcome from Alessio when we arrived and were delighted with the large spotlessly clean twin room we were allocated. Breakfast was simple, tasty and nutritious and great value at 800 Yen. The location was perfect as we arrived at the station and it took less than 10 minutes to walk to the hotel. Sightseeing was easy - on foot or by train. The Shosei-en garden next to the hotel is well worth a visit and the magnigficent Higashi Honganji temple is only a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The Gion entertainment area is a bit further away but only a 15 minute walk from the hotel. After staying in large, expensive and impersonal hotels in Osaka and Tokyo we appreciated the personal service from the friendly staff at Hotel Ethnography. Many thanks to Alessio, Tanaka and the 2 ladies at reception for making us feel so welcome and for being so helpful. We hope to come back again.

Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. It’s in a quiet and nice area yet it’s walkable from Kyoto JR station and there are lots of dinning options. Staff were super helpful and nice.

最喜欢的一家日本酒店

这是我第二次入住此酒店，第一次入住时就给我很好的印象。这个酒店只有前台员工，4天一共见了5个不同的员工，有英国人，日本人，意大利人和尼泊尔人，是个小联合国，跟他们聊天很有趣。酒店房间很大，温度设定很灵敏，关键是制热时没有讨厌的噪音。对我来说这点很重要。酒店的备品也不像一般的日本酒店那样过于环保而牺牲一些舒适性。酒店位置非常好，从京都站过来步行8分钟，走到鸭川的饭店街也只需要15分钟。由于是个小型酒店，所以也不用担心旅行团带来的嘈杂，关键还有着非常合理的价格。这次我带了一个礼物给这家酒店，是北京紫禁城的鼠年日历，酒店的休息区你可以看到它。如果您去请把您入住的那一页写上祝福，愿世界和平，愿武汉的疫情尽快过去。

This place just feels like home. We booked a Superior Twin Room in this wonderful boutique hotel and the room was luxuriously spacious with a space that felt more like a junior suite than just a hotel room. The hotel only has 5 rooms and felt more like staying at a ryokan (sans halfboard) but this gave us a very quiet relaxed place to come back to after a full day of exploring. The room, and the hotel itself, is beautifully designed with modern Japanese furnishings. The beds here are firm but comfortable and the bathroom had a large bath/shower washroom adjoining a large sink and changing area and a roomy separate toilet. The bathroom toiletries are fantastic and smell driving, and the towels are super fluffy. There was a table and chairs as well as a sofa in the room which was great for having a sit down without messing up the beds. I also appreciated the abundance of hooks, cupboard space and hangers so plenty of space for hanging big winter coats as well as a bit of hand washing. The hotel is situated less than 5 minutes walk to Gojo Subway Station and about 10 minutes walk which is convenient for getting around to all the sights and although located in a quiet neighborhood, there’s a few restaurants as you walk towards Kyoto Station and within

New Year's stay

Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms. Helpful and friendly staff. Meals were excellent although mostly vegetarian..occassional chicken or egg. Wished I had used the complimentary cell phone more for directions. Eco-friendly and all decor is handcrafted in Kyoto. Will stay here again!

Great hotel to stay.

It might take 5 to 10 mins to walk from station to this hotel but the room space is big, with japanese zen style, totally worthy it. My top 1 stay (among) 3 in my trip to Osaka & Kyoto. Love it!

A little walk, but perfect

A very small hotel, but with spacious comfortable rooms about a 10 min walk from the Kyoto Station.

Seems like an older apartment that was totally revamped and turned into a hotel. Whoever did the remodel didn't cut corners. Plenty of space, can easily sleep 3 people with enough space for luggage. Great furnishing and left with nothing to complain about.

* Mattress is airweave which is known to be a quality mattress in Japan.

* It's not your typical "hotel." There's about 5-6 rooms and it feels like you're a guest at someone's house.

* Front is totally bilingual. We exchanged Japanese and English.

* There is a cafe called Walden Woods Cafe a block or two away PLEASE GO!

* Breakfast was unique and reminded me of Bed n Breakfast.

* You get a smartphone you can take with you. The phone is NOT hotspotable.

* Solid wifi, big tub, separate bathroom, plenty of closet space, etc.

* Maybe one good / bad point is that it's not in a busy area, so you won't have convenience store downstairs, BUT it's nice and quiet.

Exceptional, modern and convenient location

The Hotel Ethnography Kikoku no Mori was wonderful. So much better than we had expected. It was located within walking distance of the Kyoto train station and several bus routes which made getting around town very easy. The staff was terrific and very helpful in suggesting places to visit. The room was very comfortable and modern. Many extras like toothbrush, hair brush, hair tie and razor were included on the bathroom vanity. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very friendly staff, clean, quiet area but easy to access to go to the main area( Shijo-Kawaramachi where we went to the shopping area) We use the city bus only a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Room was very comfortable and clean.
I will definitely to come back to Kyoto and stay there again.

상당히 괜찮은 숙소였습니다.

교통은 편한 편입니다.
교토역에서 걸어서 약 7~8분 거리인데 걸어 갈만한 거리이구요.
근처 버스 역을 이용하면 교토 각 지역 이동하기도 좋은 편이었습니다.

무엇보다도 숙소가 깨끗하고 직원분들이 매우 친철했습니다.
직원분들이 매번 바뀌시던데 1박 2일 있는 동안 3분이 근무하는 것을 봤고,
특이하게 일본인이 아닌 분이 2분 있었는데 모두 친절했습니다.

숙소는 매우 깔끔하고, 일본의 보통 호텔 대비 넓은 편이었습니다.

다음에 교토에 여행을 갈 일이 있다면 다시 이용하고 싶은 숙소였습니다.

Bonne adresse.

Beau petit hôtel. Accessible depuis la gare Tokyo à pieds, par contre très peu de commerces ou restaurants à proximité.
Décoration très soignée, prêt de chaussons à l’entree de l’hotel et petit placard pour ranger ses chaussures. Petit déjeuner plus japonais que continental, le personnel de réception est très gentil et serviable.
Chambre spacieuse, le seul problème a été le lit supplémentaire qui était un canapé convertible inconfortable, nous l’avons signalé car pour 4 nuits c’etait Impossible ils ont fait le nécessaire dans la journée.

The hotel was great, well located and the staff was wonderful. The breakfast was wonderful, the only downside is that the beds were firm but that seems to be typical for all the places we have stayed in Japan.

The best stay I had in Japan

A boutique hotel aesthetically designed. Particularly professional and courteous staff. Tanaka and Ninna were always willing and ready to help and particularly professional (though, not the Italian receptionist who had this totally detached attitude, sparing even a 'good morning'). Breakfast was fine. Location very convenient. Room was spacious and amenities galore. I wish I had a sixth star to award this property.

깨끗하고 신식이고 인테리어 멋지고 최고! 단점은 호텔비가 특이하게 룸당 계산이 아니라 료칸처럼 인당 계산이라는것 (그래서 검색조건보다 실 결제금액이 훨씬 커요) 그리고 현관에서 신발벗고 슬리퍼 갈아신고 들어가야해요! 약간 불편^^;; 조식은 깔끔하고 괜찮았는데 양이 좀 마니 적어요...ㅋㅋㅋ
