Exceeded our expectations. Everything was very nice and was a nice traditional style home. Utilities worked great and was in a great spot being in the gion district. Beds were comfortable and was great having 2 bathrooms. There were really no negatives to our stay here.

Excellent place and great location. Loved being down this quaint alleyway close to every thing we wanted to see and experience. Only warning would be the stairs if traveling with anyone older, very young children or with mobility issues.

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the location and atmosphere of the machiya, as well as the charming alleyway leading to the house. As you mentioned, the stairs have been renovated to preserve the original traditional design and layout of the machiya house. For guests with young children or those who prefer not to use the stairs, futon bedding can also be arranged in the 1st floor Japanese room.We truly appreciate your thoughtful comments and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again on your next visit to Kyoto!Kind regards,Tsukikusa-an Machiya House

This stay was one of the highlights of the entire trip. If I will be in Kyoto again, there is no doubt that I will once again book this place. Everything about it was just perfect. The check in office was great with our luggage when moving them to our house and then to the next hotel.
