I highly recommend this hotel. The hotel is fairly new with a great looking design and facilities. The service from the staff is impeccable. Bottom line, this hotel is exceptional quality at a great price point. Probably the best value for your money in Kyoto.

Large beautiful rooms. Great shower pressure.

This is a wonderful hotel. The location is excellent with transportation, dining, monuments and parks a short distance away. The hotel is beautiful with an attractive lobby, peaceful courtyard garden, nice bar and spacious, comfortable and inviting rooms. The staff was extremely helpful & courteous. We had a perfect stay and highly recommend.

Best Hotel Group in Japan! A must stay

The Mitsui Hotel Group have some of the best hotels in all of Japan. The staff was very friendly and spoke really good English. The room was absolutely beautiful and very spacious. I opted for the room with the washer and dryer and was able to wash everything during my trip there. The bathroom was spacious and clean, the shower room is my favorite thing about Japan as well as their toilets. The public bath was very clean and comfortable especially after a long day of exploring. I had never been so relaxed before in a hotel than I did here. Everything was so comfortable and convenient. Will for sure be returning.

Every employee we encountered were very helpful.
We stayed for 6 nights, we got the room with the washer which was perfect for us.
We enjoyed the fact we could just get out the door and have access to so many restaurants and stores, as well , as nice walk to many of the landmarks, museum right across the street .
Having the shower and bathtub , and all well thought about amenities was great .

All staff were polite, friendly, and professional. Man who ran breakfast buffet was excellent. Bartender was excellent. Man who served at the restaurant was excellent. Check in & check out were smooth and simple thanks to the helpful staff. Hotel itself was clean, beautifully decorated, and room was perfect.

Excellent 15 out of 10

I was so amazed by this hotel that I actually extended my stay. Ohata and Kamide did an amazing job by the service they provided. Besides the excellent service provided by the staff, the LOCATION of the hotel is in the center of Everything yet tucked away from all of the noise. Rooms were great. Excellent bedding and comfortable mattress. (Which is very important) and lastly the ONSEN. After a long day of walking around the city it was great to come back and detox . I'll definitely recommend this hotel and I cannot wait to return. The staff at this location were the best.

This hotel is one of the best I have stayed at. Clean, and very well equipped the rooms are so comfortable. Also the staff is unbelievable and very friendly. Finally didn’t do the breakfast buffet but did have lunch there one day and it was outstanding pasta.

This hotel was better than what I had expected. The hotel is stylish, clean, comfortable, and room was larger than expected. The onsen was amazing! The staff very kind and helpful. It’s located in a quiet area within walking distance to many restaurants and Nishiki market. I would most definitely recommend and would stay again when next in Kyoto.

Extraordinarily courteous and diligent staff made the experience flawless. The facilities themselves were superb, and the on-property restaurant (which I understand makes its own cheese) was surprisingly good. It’s centrally located, so you’re never too far from anything. It’s a wonderful hotel, and would absolutely recommend it for whenever anyone visits Kyoto.

This hotel is in an amazing location and the staff provides excellent service. It’s close to North-South metro lines and the Nishiki Market. Lots to see and do within walking distance. Also pretty easy to take a train to Uji from here. Make sure to reserve a time for the private spa, unforgettable experience.

Super relaxing and rejuvenating especially after exploring Kyoto, you need an environment that will help you recover. All the staff are very nice, helpful and accommodating. The location is also perfect as it is accessible to a lot of dining options and a shopping complex. It is also close to train stations. Will definitely stay here again when we come back to Kyoto.

Feels Like a Luxury Dungeon – Not in a Good Way

Rooms have no windows—just glass panes that emit light, giving the illusion of daylight without any actual view. The onsen is in the basement, also windowless, with no open-air section or outside atmosphere. It was always empty, likely because the hotel seems to cater more to non-Japanese guests who may not use the facility.

Breakfast was decent, with good quality, but surprisingly limited in Asian options—only udon was offered.

For Japan, the room prices felt high, especially given the lack of natural light or real luxury amenities.

If you're after a hotel experience that feels like a sleek, upscale dungeon, this might be your thing. Otherwise, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.

We stayed for 2 nights: our rooms are very quiet, the AC in the rooms are also very quiet. It seems the Japanese hotels are able to manage their air vents much better than most American hotels. The showers are very very good, bed sheets and pillows are comfortable. WiFi is fast.

There's 1 thing I would like the hotel to improve: the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired: they obviously try to cater to the white people, but bakeries taste all stale, even the bread on their made to order avocado toast tastes like Safeway bread that expired a week ago. One waiter speaks English, but was curt, rude, unhelpful. Coffee was similar to pot coffee in a 2 star American hotel.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The Mitsui Garden Sanjo Premier in Kyoto was spotless—everything was extremely clean and smelled amazing from the moment we walked in. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The staff were incredibly attentive, polite, and respectful—top-notch service throughout. The hotel is located right in the heart of Kyoto, making it easy to walk to nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions.

I’ll definitely be staying here again the next time I visit Kyoto. Highly recommend!

Hotel was beautiful in a great neighborhood. The onsen was really well maintained and relaxing. All the staff were friendly and polite and accommodating. We arrived in the rain and were soaked and they took great care of us and offered towels to dry off while check in was in progress.

My only negative about this hotel was the breakfast. Very uninspiring and lacked some basic options. Random salad items, hash browns, cheeses - just an uncohesive mix. It’s also quite expensive so I was hoping for more. We only had it the one morning and went out for other meals.

Love our stay. The hotel is absolutely stunning. A lot courtyards. Public bath is great and relaxing after a day of walking. Hotel room is very nice, new, has washer/dryer combo in the room which is really convenient. Location is excellent and walkable to a lot of attractions. Will definitely stay again.

Love this place for Kyoto! I would go again! Free laundry everyday in our rooms! Everything is super clean! Worth the price! The place smells soooo good as well, as soon as you enter you’ll smell the spa like fragrance. Beats all hotels in Tokyo. English speaking front desk. I didn’t get a chance to try the breakfast, but it looks like it was American food favored.

This is a very nice, new and stylish hotel. I really liked that it had Japanese style mixed with modern style. It has a very nice breakfast buffet which turns into a restaurant afterwards. We had one of the biggest suites and it was perfect!
