北海館 お花坊

娘の25際の誕生日に家族3人で宿泊。
夕飯の際に家族写真を撮るお声掛けをいただいたり、ずっと気遣いをしていただきました。
お宿からもお祝いをいただき、娘はいただいたお誕生日カードを記念にとっており、とても喜んでいました。ありがとうございます。
1番気になる清掃などもいき届いており、快適に過ごす事が出来ました。竹の歯ブラシなどアメニティーも環境への配慮をされており細かな所まで気配りをされているのだなと、感心しました。
母娘で久しぶりに大風呂に一緒に入り、他に人が居なくて、清掃の行き届いた環境で、ゆっくりとさせていただきました。
夕食も豪華で量も健啖家の娘達でさえお腹がいっぱいになり、とても満足していました。
朝食がとても美味しく、日頃自宅で鍋で米を炊くので、外で食事をしてお米が美味しいと思う事はあまり無いのですが、とにかくお米が美味しく、お味噌汁なども美味しかったです。宿泊して食べた朝食で1番美味しくいただきました。私はランチで提供されても、めちゃくちゃ満足出来る朝食でした。
宿泊客は他は外国の方が多く、お若い外国の方が求めるジャンクな日本食？(ラーメンとか)ではないので、こんなに美味しい朝食も、お口に合わないのだろうなと勿体なく思いましたが、宿の方が丁寧に優しく接客されていて、感心いたしました。
日頃はリーガロイヤルや帝国ホテルやヒルトンと言ったホテル大好き派の娘が「初めて旅館が良いと思った！」と大変喜んでいました。
近場なので宿泊する事は年に数回なのですが、ランチやお食事などをされるなら頻繁に伺えるのにと思い、残念です。
勿論又宿泊する際には是非伺わせていただきます。
気配り気遣いの行き届いた心を込めたおもてなしをいただき、ありがとうございます。

まず宿泊先に入ってから「こんばんは！おかえりなさい」ととても元気に声をかけて頂きました。最初からウェルカム感がとても大きく、チェックインの手続きをしている時から「今日はどこに行きましたか？明日は早いの？それならこことこことは朝オススメですよ」と案内して頂きました。

お部屋へ行った時も、室内の案内をしている時にお茶を入れて下さりとても感動しました。

夕食は外でたべたので頂きませんでしたが、次は必ず食べたいです。

朝6時30分にチェックアウトする際も、「早いですね、気をつけて行ってらっしゃい。お外で写真撮りましょうか？」とお店の前で写真も撮って頂きました。

こんなにウェルカムなお宿は久しぶりだったので、とても感動しました(^^)
次はゆっくりと夕食も頂きながら、このお宿を満喫したいと思います。

東本願寺の目の前にあり、京都駅からも徒歩で数分の距離です。浴場は消して広くはないものの、接客がとても丁寧で素晴らしかったです。機会があればまた利用したいと思いました。その際には朝食も頼んでみようと思います。

朝食が美味しい昔ながらの旅館です。
建物が古いのでトイレ洗面共同、お風呂場が若干狭い等あります。
少し割高感はありますが総じて快適な滞在でした。

Our experience at Hokkaikan Ohanabo was possibly the best experience of our trip. Not only were the staff the friendliest people, we felt taken care of at each moment.

Our room was clean, spacious, and extremely comfortable. Meanwhile, our dinners and breakfasts were endless treasure boxes filled with so many delicious dishes and treats. Lastly, the baths were so soothing, especially after long days of walking.

We definitely recommend Ohanabo to any friend or family and would implore you to make a booking if possible. Looking forward to staying the next time we're in Kyoto.

I would rate the service and staff higher than 5 star if possible. The service was exceptional even by Japanese standards. The Kaiseki and breakfast shouldn’t be missed. Do your self a favor and stay here.

My partner and I both loved our stay at Hokkaikan Ohanabo, a ryokan in Kyoto. The staff were warm and welcoming and our accommodations were comfortable and provided a relaxing escape when we needed it. There are baths on premises, which was a unique experience. We highly recommend including breakfast in your reservation -- the daily breakfasts of traditional Japanese cuisine were our favorite part of the experience at Hokkaikan Ohanabo. The hotel is located across the street from the grand Higashi Hongan-ji Temple and is a short walk from Kyoto station.

항상 너무 친절하시고 서비스가 좋았습니다. 주변에 먹을 곳과 관광지에 대해서도 영어로 최대한 자세하게 알려주셨습니다. 교토역과의 접근성도 걸어서 8-10분 정도로 가까웠고 아침식사도 다양한 일본 가정식을 먹을 수 있어 좋았습니다.

Absolutely stay here when in Kyoto. This was our favorite hotel on our trip to Japan. It is an authentic experience. Dinner and breakfast were great (though they may be tough for a picky eater). But most importantly, the staff was amazing. We have never felt more welcomed by a hotel. They became our friends. We will be back!

Incredible stay in Kyoto

Great stay. The hostesses treat all of their guests like family and the food is amazing. This isn't just lodging; it's a life experience and a cultural immersion opportunity. So glad that we stayed here instead of a standard hotel. The place is also very centrally located.

The best Ryokan we have ever stayed and we have stayed in quite a few in the past 20 years. The service is beyond! The day when we arrived and we were recommended to visit the nearby Buddhist temp but it was about to close. The ryokan lady jumped into her car and drove us there. We were able to see the Magnificent 1001 buddha statues. The dinner was food art, fresh, seasonal with amazing taste, it definitely was a memorable experience. The facility was clean, authentic with all the modern day comforts. Staff takes proud in making all the guests feel welcome. Service was first rate. I couldn’t compliment enough

This property was definitely amongst the best ive been to. The staff made sure to accomodate for all the guests needs and assist in creating a perfect itinerary for the travelers. Staying at this inn feels like home, but keep in mind that they lock the front door at 12am. Otherwise a perfect place to rest between adventures.

This was such a delightful stay. The team was incredibly friendly and the service was warm and genuine. Breakfast was tremendously intricate and beautiful...and different everyday. We're not used to Japanese for breakfast so probably should have just ordered for 1 day. Nonetheless, everyday was a different gastronomical experience. Location is very convenient to Kyoto station. It's a bit noisy as it is on the main road...but the chimes from the temple across the road early in the morning was so calming that traffic noise doesn't bother anymore. Loved every moment spent at the property. 4 of us comfortably stayed in the room with private bath. Highly recommend.

It was our best experience in all our trip. The owner and the personnel was so kind and so cute that we will remember it for the rest of our life. The breakfast was different every day and they surprised us every moment with some kindnesses. My wife has a serious allergy to fish and shrimps and they did all the best to let us feeling comfortable with a tailored approach and a dedicated experience.
If you go to Japan this place is THE PLACE to join. We want to thank them for the amazing experience they were able to provide with us. ARIGATŌ

Booked a room for 1-4 people which I assumed would accommodate 4 people, but when we arrived they informed us that we had to pay additional for 2 people for a total of 4. It was another $425 and with city tax was close to $900 usd for a one night stay which was a rip off, definitely not worh it for a 2 star hotel. Would not recoomend and felt they take advantage of tourist families.

목조 위주의 오래된 전통 료칸을 체험할 수 있습니다. 화려하진않지만 정갈하고 소박한 매력이 있습니다. 직원분들이 대단히 친절하고 친근하게 대해주십니다. 식사가 깔끔하고 개별 객실에서 코스로 나옵니다. 화장실이 방 안에 없어 불편할까 싶었지만 방과 가까운 복도에 개별 지정 화장실이 있어 생각보다 편했습니다. 위치가 교토역과 가까워 편합니다. 다만 가파른 계단이 있어 거동이 불편하신 분들께는 추천하지 않습니다.

This is the absolute best place to stay ever! If you're looking for a ryokan or any type of accommodation in Kyoto, stay here!

The best part is the staff. They are some of the friendliest people we've ever met and were so helpful, happy and cheerful. They are also so passionate about their ryokan and their beautiful city! When we were having trouble getting to Fushimi Inari Taisha because of a road closure, one of the staff even drove us all the way there!

The rooms are very traditional and spacious with modern comforts (such as AC and a modern bathroom). They even lent us yukatas with many colours to choose from. The baths are traditional and clean with great amenities. The staff also let my wife use the baths even though she has tattoos.

The location is also fantastic (right across the street from Higashi Hongan-ji temple and 1 block from Shosei-en Garden) and there is plenty of delicious food and beautiful sights within walking distance! It is also super close to Kyoto station and other buses and trains!

We strongly recommend staying here!

The American poet Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said, forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” We will never forget the staff at Hokkaikan Ohanabo because they made us feel as though we were the most honored guests they had ever received. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us with hospitality we have never experienced anywhere else. They enthusiastically greeted us, helped us remove our shoes, carried our bags to our room, showed us the inn, and offered to help us with anything needed. They washed our dirty laundry (for a minimal fee) and arranged for in-room massages for my wife and me. Any mistakes we made—fumbling with our poor Japanese language skills, dribbling water on the tatami mats, coming late to breakfast—were graciously overlooked. The traditional Japanese breakfast was worthy of a Michelin star rating. Items we never would have ordered for ourself were—without exception—delicious. When we finished breakfast, staff insisted we relax in the lobby with coffee that they brought us. We looked at photos of each other’s families on our phones and snapped photos with each other. The okami of the ryokan, Ayako, helped us plot out our next four days of sightseeing on a Kyoto map, and then not only arranged for our luggage to be delivered to our next hotel, but also gave us an impromptu tour of the town in her personal van before dropping us at our first stop of the day. Five stars is not a high enough rating!!

료관 근처에 큰 절과 주변에 맛집 식당들이 많아서 고요함과 활기찬 분위기를 동시에 느낄 후 있는 곳이다. 교토역 주변이라 교통 편리.
아침 식사도 깔끔하고 맛있었다.
무엇보다 전용 욕실 시설이 새로 리모델링해서 깨끗해서 좋았다. 아쉬운 점은 도로가라는 점과 료관의 특성상 층간 소음이 있다.

Truly a special place to stay in Kyoto. I have traveled all over the world and the staff here were among the friendliest and most welcoming I have ever experienced. The breakfast is highly recommended as well. The rooms are large, quiet and traditional Japanese. We stayed during the summer when it was vey warm and the AC was excellent. If you can get a reservation here- book it! Outstanding experience to stay in traditional Japanese hotel.

Must-stay ryokan

What a wonderful place! One of the highlights of our trip. The (vegetarian, for us) food was fabulous, and the lovely hosts were willing to answer all of our small questions about the ingredients and preparation. They also gave us great touring guidance. Would certainly return. And I wouldn't pay any more for the fancier ryokans--this place was absolutely terrific for a comparatively much cheaper price.

Extremely enjoyable and authentic stay, the staff were exceptional, i’ve never met friendlier staff in any other accommodation. The dinner experience was amazing and the staff were so accommodating to our dietary needs and again just exceptional service throughout dinner also. The rooms were as a traditional ryokan would be, very clean and great location. I would highly recommend this place for an authentic enjoyable experience, all the staff members just made our stay even better due to their amazing service, would love to visit again next time

교토역에서 가까운 료칸으로 교통 편의성도 좋고 역근처라 저녁 먹을 곳도 많아 커플이 1박으로 여행하는데 최적의 숙소였습니다. 큰 길가에 있으며 겉으론 작고 오래되보였으나 내부는 굉장히 깔끔하게 유지되고 있으며 직원분들이 정말 친절했습니다. 조식만 먹었는데 두부정식으로 정갈하고 맛있는 교토정식이었네요. 다음에 교토오면 다시 묵고 싶습니다 :)

친절 그 잡채

대만족. 적극 추천.
정말 깨끗하고, 친절합니다.
몸 둘 바를 모르게 친절하다는 표현이 어울리는 곳입니다.
친절하다는 후기를 읽고 갔음에도 당황할 정도로 친절했습니다.
할머니 모시고 간 여행이었는데, 할머니께서도 너무 좋아하셨습니다.
체크아웃 이후에도 짐을 맡아주셔서 출국 전까지 편히 근처 구경도 할 수 있었네요.
객실은 구석구석 관리되지 않은 부분이 없었고, 말 그대로 먼지 한 톨 없었습니다.
목욕탕도 작지만 깨끗해 여행의 피로를 풀기에 좋았습니다.
조식도 너무 맛있게 먹어 저녁 가이세키를 신청하지 않은 것을 살짝 후회했네요.
누군가 교토역 근처 숙소를 추천해달라고 하면 저는 반드시 이곳을 추천할 것 같습니다. 몹시 추천드립니다.

완전 최고에오 조식 신청해서 목었는데 안했으면 엄청 후회할뻔 했어용 목욕탕도 작지만 너무 좋았고 직원들이 엄청 친절하셨어요👍👍 체크인 하면 떡을 주시는데 너무 맛있어요. 하루만 자고 가는게 너무 아쉬워서 다음에 또 이용할 예정입니다!

While in Kyoto we stayed at this amazing family owned Rōyakan Inn. From the moment we entered the building we were treated as family. We were greeted with excitment and welcomed with open arms. Everyone was friendly and attentive. They anticipated our needs and pampered us throughout our stay. The food was wonderful, prepared for each guest based on their needs and what is available locally and fresh. When we ended our stay they helped us get a taxi and walked us to the car to say good bye, family group hugs and even waved until we were out of sight. The Inn is well situated near popular sights, including the famous Higashi Honganji Temple right outside the front door.

The room, building and amenities were georgous and well maintained. We loved everything and were glad we took advantage of the private onsen on-sight. If you are heading to Kyoto we highly recommend.

*bonus, most staff spoke English. while this is not something we look for or need (we are in JAPAN after all) it was nice to visit, chat and laugh in English.

Amazing breakfast - Japanese or western and both delicious and beautiful. The people were amazingly friendly. Street side room was too loud and bright, and smoke from nearby smokers flooded into our nonsmoking room. The hotel apologized but they should just convert to all nonsmoking like everywhere. Bathrooms need conditioner and more towels. Hot bath room was nice enough.

The staff were exceptional. The dinner and breakfast were truly special - one of a kind experience for those visiting Japan. Rooms were cozy, tatami beds much more comfortable than expected and the late night massage is highly recommended! Location was also great - less than ten minute walk to Lyoto station.

This is a sweet little inn, very comfortable and romantic. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We did not have meals here, so I can't comment on the food. They did bring cold green tea up to us when we returned to our room in the afternoon after being out walking around. Everything is very clean. I would stay here again if I traveled to Kyoto.

Love love love this place!

Hokkaikan Ohanabo was a last minute change and we are thankful we did it. Close to the Kyoto Station, about a 10 minute walk. Close to restaurants and cafes. The staff is very friendly - probably the friendliest and most hospitable for our entire trip. Our room was impeccably clean. From our futons, to the table, the bathroom - not a speck of dust. And also smelled so clean. Very comfortable. Loved the experience!
My husband and I are grateful we read reviews and quickly switched to Hokkaikan Ohanabo. Arigatou gozaimasu!
Oh and Kyoto's best ramen is also a 7 minute walk!

An Amazing Experience!

The staff were so friendly and nice! They spoke English really well and had conversations with us, offered to take pictures, and wished us to have fun when we went out. The room was very comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast was very delicious and presented very beautifully. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Kyoto!!

I loved the onsen (used to go 3 times a day) as well. will definitely come again next time I'm in Kyoto. we enjoyed the kaiseki dinner in our room as well, and the house plum wine (with soda!) was the best we ever tried

This was the best property we stayed during this visit to Japan. The staff were all very nice and the service was just perfect. The room was also spacious with this traditional Japanese style. One of the favorite parts is the onsen provided both in the morning and the evening. Even though we had a private bath in the room, we still went down to the onsen cause it was so comfortable and relaxing. The Japanese-style breakfast was also very sophisticated. Overall, you can just tell how many thoughts have been put into your stay here. I'd highly recommend this place and we'll certainly stay here again if we visit Kyoto.

만족만족!!

직원이 모두다 매우매우 친절함! 체크인 시간보다 1시간 일찍 들어갔고, 다음날 퇴실때도 엄청 친절하게 어디가시냐고 물어보심! 퇴실날 비가와서, 우산 1개를 샀는데, 1개는 그냥 주셔가지고(인원 2명) 편하게쓰고다녔어요. 다음날 출국이라 지나가는길에 돌려드리려 갔더니, 기억하시면서 절까지 하셔가지고 몸둘바를 몰랐어요!
예약할때 방이 하나밖에 없어서 몰랐지만, 방마다 샤워실이랑 화장실이 있는것도 있고..선택할수있나봐요. 저희방은 그냥 화장실만 있었음! 잘보시고 방을 선택하시면 될것같아요. 저흰 방이 하나만 남아서 모르고 그냥 한거에요!
어쨌든 요기 후기도 잘 없고해서.. 그냥길게 쓰긴했지만.. 좋아요!

This property was great, and worth going to. If you google ryokan, you’ll find that they often come with a traditional dinner and breakfast. Ryokans are expensive, but they include two big meals, right? When I arrived, I was told that all I could get was breakfast. I didn’t sign up for dinner. What?! The Expedia booking said nothing about that. I couldn’t even pay extra for dinner on the spot. I had to be confirmed 3 days ahead of time. How was I supposed to know this given the Expedia page? Somewhat dampened my experience.

Other than the lack of dinner, it was a great experience.

The staff was very pleasant and made us feel at home. Breakfast was wonderful. Our room was always clean. Great location. Great restaurant recommendation. My wife didn't love the bead pillow; it was perfect for me. Bath was nice and clean and warm. Overall excellent value for a great experience.

This property is in between Kyoto station and Gojo Station, which is about 5 minutes walk from Kyoto station. Staff are very friendly, nice and accommodating. The owner even drove my elderly mother & I to the limousine bus stop instead of calling a taxi. That is great service! I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone who wants to experience traditional Japanese hotel with daily breakfast

THE PLACE to stay in Kyoto

It was excellent. I’s recommend and will stay there again. If you want to experience Japanese style stay, food and room, that is THE PLACE!! The staff are friendly and the place is beautiful! It is a short walking distance from Kyoto Tower and Kyoto station.

Amazing ryokan experience and staff that went above the call of duty everyday. I was a solo traveller and unfortunately fell sick during my travels. I was honestly more well taken care of here than I am at home when I am sick :) Keep up the awesome work!
