清潔でスタッフさんの感じが良いホテルです。
商店街や厳島神社へのアクセスが良いので便利。
夜飲みたいので、施設内にバーがあるともっと良いですね。
追加料金1000円程度で一時間チェックアウト時間を延長してくれました。お蔭様でゆっくりできました。

立地条件が・・・。

年配者6人の同窓会旅行でしたが、学生時代に戻って楽しく滞在できました。ホテルの人も足の悪い友人ができるだけ外出できるよう、いろいろと考えてくれましたが、いかんせんホテルが坂の上に立っているので、厳島神社や食事に行くことができませんでした。車の行けるところが決まっているので難しかったです。

Beautiful traditional tatami hotel. You pay a huge premium for staying on Miyajima and it’s worth every penny. Lovely staff. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but found several lovely places nearby.

If you’re looking to experience a traditional Japanese stay, with a Ryokan feel this place has it. Amazing service and amenities, including the Yakutas in the room that I regret not buying. Clean and beautiful. The public onsen was lovely and quiet, there is also an option to book a private onsen slot for no extra fee. The island is amazing and the oysters (however you like them) are a must-try.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and we enjoyed the view on the small sun porch. But by far the most amazing aspect of our visit was the dining option. We signed up for the breakfast and dinner, and they were five star restaurant worthy. An incredible delightful assortment of delicious dishes at every meal. Don’t miss it!

The place is very charming. The location is great for walking to town or going to other . The rooms are spacious. Most decor and furniture seems very dated. so for the price, we thought it was a little high. The Japanese style breakfast was delicious. We are also glad they offered coffee at the breakfast.

Super hôtel très agréable et confortable
Bains chauds et chambre spacieuse et bien équipée
Personnel à l’écoute
Hôtel bien placé proche du front de mer
Petits bémols : problème de réservation faite pour cinq personnes mais chambres disponibles seulement pour quatre selon l’hôtel donc obligé de payer en plus
Et certaines choses prévues non disponibles comme le restaurant ou le sauna et pas de navette proposée vers le ferry dommage

The staff seem nice but basic expectations were not met. Did not pick-up us ubtik 30 minutes after we arrived although i informed many times. I had to contact expedia to get them to respond. Food and services at hotel were average and slightly below for Japan. The staff was quick to clean up while eating. They seem nervious and wanting people to leave. Limited support on how to prepare and put foos together. I am so disappointed by the experience. It was not worth all we paid

Japanse ryokan met een fantastisch diner en ontbijt. Ze blijven met hapjes aankomen en alles is een kunstwerk. De omgeving is erg rustig. ‘s Avonds als de dagjesmensen weg zijn, kun je nog heerlijk ontspannen wandelen langs de kade. Het binnenland is zeker aan te raden.

De bedden waren voor ons futons. Deze worden door het personeel klaar gemaakt. Het is even wennen, maar wij hebben er uitstekend op geslapen.

The hotel is a traditional japanesse ryokan. Smell bad and the bathroom was dirty. The elevator and the public areas smell bad like humidity. The hotel needs a reimbursement. I don't recommend.

Miyajima Hotel Makato

The Miyajima Hotel Makato was an absolutely excellent experience. Their customer service was the best I have ever seen in my life! They were very helpful with every need and request. I absolutely would stay here again! The only thing I would change was the type of room. Make sure you want to stay in a traditional room if that is what you want. It is what we requested and was so cool. Next time I would stay in a modern room. They were excellent!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Miyajima Hotel Makoto. The traditional rooms are large and well-appointed, however some decor and components are obvoously outdated. There is also a distinctly earthy/broccoli-like smell throughout the hotel, which may bother some people. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, and helped us with dinner reservations. Overall, we would say this hotel is above-average compared to most of our stays in Japan.

We really enjoyed the Japanese-style room with tatami and futons - something very different from the western-style rooms we had stayed at otherwise. Everything was clean and well taken care of, albeit a little dated.

Both the breakfast and dinner were an experience with a plethora of dishes we would normally never come across.

The location suited us, a very short walk from the Miyajima ferry terminal and within a walking distance of the main area of the island, without being crowded or noisy.

Hotel staff were extremely nice, with the reception being fluent in English.

Great hotel

The staff were extremely helpful when we arrived. They let us store our luggage until check in time. The room was very spacious. We chose the Japanese style room. The staff made up the beds while we went out for dinner.

A little bit away from the shops and other hotels and nested amongst the residential area is this gem of a ryokan. Got the authentic experience of sleeping on Japanese futons and bathing in the public bath. The rooms also had modern. Bathrooms and showers. Fully recommend paying for the attached kaiseki dinner and breakfast, both were amazing experiences. Our favorite was the breakfast miso soup! Can't recommend highly enough!

A full Japanese Expeeience

A full Japanese experience: the hotel is a ryokan located in a quiet street that can be reached in 5 minutes walking from the ferry boat station.
The hotel offer an onsen and the possibility to have a Japanese-style dinner and breakfast, highly recommended.
The rooms are also in traditional style, with tatami floors and futon beds
The staff are extremely kind and helpful.

This place was amazing! We arrived early to the hotel as we had taken the ferry over early in the morning. They were able to store our bags for the day and placed them in our rooms when the room was ready. Someone was at the door of the hotel ready to greet you as you came in. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed in it. We unfortunately did not get to take advantage of the onsen, because we were exhausted after walking so much. The view from our room was amazing, looking out over the roof of the hotel and down on cherry trees, where both birds and deer gathered. At about six pm we had a knock on the door and two gentlemen came and made up our Japanese style beds for us. The only bad thing for us was that we only booked one night here. We would have stayed on the island much longer at at this hotel longer if we had the time.

Incredible Experience

Incredible. Excellent service, delicious full course Japanese style breakfast, relaxing and clean Onsen. They offered a free shuttle to the Miyajima ferry station when we left, overall a perfect experience, clean, professional, authentic food and Japanese hotel experience.

Great Ryokan Japanese hotel close to all the Miyajima places of interest. Good sized room for 2 and could accommodate 4. Made good use of public and private Onsen (hot baths) and fantastic Japanese food beautifully presented at both breakfast and dinner. Hotel staff couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome and make sure you enjoyed your stay - Arigato!

Grossly over priced

This hotel is grossly over priced for what it is offering. The public rooms are non existent, despite claims. The dining room is large and soulless, with mediocre service. Lighting in the bedroom is poor.
There must be better value places to stay on Makoto island.

Ein wunderschönes Ryokan auf einer wunderschönen Insel. Wir haben einen seitlichen Blick aufs Meer mit torii, den wir aber nicht so geniessen konnten, da es sehr heiss war und deshalb das Fenster geschlossen sein musste.
Der öffentliche Onsen war auch sehr schön. Abendessen und Frühstücken konnten wir hier nicht, da es ausgebucht war. Insgesamt alles super aber etwas überteuert. Ich dachte ehrlich gesagt beim Preis wäre das Essen inklusive…

This is a lovely quiet hotel/ryokan. Beautiful large room with everything set up for onsen the Japanese bath, which was also delightful.
The staff was very very sweet and helpful.

We didn’t eat at the hotel; there are wonderful restaurants within walking distance.


The hotel is a few hundred meters from the tourist area which is very quiet after 5 pm.

Wir hatten eine Nacht im Roykan Hotel gebucht. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend. Wir waren früher als die angegebene Check in Zeit vor Ort und durften unser Gepäck zwischenlagern. Die Zimmer sind im 70er Jahre Look, genau wie auf den Bilder zusehen ist. Das hat einen sehr authentischen Charm. Gute Lage für einen Trip auf die Insel, alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind gut zu Fuß erreichbar, innerhalb von 7 min ist man an den Tempelanlagen . Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Hôtel confortable

Hôtel au standard japonais, avec des services japonais (chambre tatamis/futons, salle de bain "en bloc plastique" fonctionnelle, bien dotée à défaut d'être élégante). Bons et copieux repas, dans un ambiance par contre très froide (grande salle sans charme, musique déprimante). Dommage que le choix du petit déjeuner occidental ou japonais n'ait pas été proposé. Navette gratuite avec le terminal de ferry. Globalement une bonne adresse et un bon séjour.

Staff was super helpful and friendly. The front desk personnel spoke very good English and would go out of their way to help us if we had concerns or questions. This place hold many great memories of my trip to Japan, and the onsen/hot-spring did wonders for my skin. I hope to become a regular costumer of this hotel in future trips.

We enjoyed our stay at Miyajima Hotel Makato very much.
Upon arrival, we were surprised to learn all shops generally close by 5pm.
Your front desk staff quickly helped to organize breakfast for us the next morning though it was very last minute.
We appreciated that very much.
They even provide transportation to the ferry terminal.
The whole team is always very attentive and ensure we are very looked after, our compliments to them for a job well done !!!

The service of the hotel is perfect, we contact for transfer service on previous day. The staff has waited at the pier on time and left the maps and restaurant information for us, we can continue to enjoy our day in Miyajima directly. There is a girl at reception is able to speak in fluent English, which is very friendly to the foreigners who don’t know Japanese. Just a bit disappointed because the private bath is fully booked on the day and we cannot have it. Miyajima is a very good place and we love it so much. Next time when I come here, I will book this hotel agin and the private bath.

Situado en la parte alta de la ciudad, en una zona bonita y tranquila a solo diez minutos andando del shrine. El servicio es excelente. La habitación amplia y con bonitas vistas. Los futones confortables. Habitación con frigorífico y servicio de té. Nos dejaron unas galletas y el agua del grifo es potable. También ofrece yukatas y zapatillas. El onsen público está muy bien. El baño y el wc están separados por lo que es cómodo. Hay una pequeña tienda con souvenirs y bebidas. El personal muy amable, nos ofreció un mapa con los restaurantes que cerraban tarde. Repetiría en este hotel sin dudarlo!

We had a large room with Tatami mats for sleeping. Unless you are used to them, they are not very comfortable. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant and we had some difficulty finding a place to have dinner lon the (Sunday) evening we were there. Likewise for breakfast the morning after.

The staff were exceptionally good and helpful. On one day a staff person walked us through the town to find a particular restaurant and on another day a staff person drove us to the station. In neither case did we ask, but in both cases we were extremely appreciative of the help.

This hotel is on top of a hill and about a 10min walk from the ferry station.
The property is a bit dated and we think way overpriced for what you get. The tatami room we got was spacious but the mats we got to sleep on were awful. It was just as well to sleep on the tatami floor, no one could get comfortable here.
There was also an annoying speaker announcement every morning, not sure what that was about but we heard it clearly in our room and it woke us up.
There is a small gift shop with snacks but not a big selection.
The Onsen is clean and nice, it was the best part of our stay but we would probably stay elsewhere if we came back to the island.
The island is beautiful but be prepared because businesses open late (around 10:30) and close early (around 5pm) so the eating options are very limited. The hotel has an option to include food but we didn’t get it so I can’t say if that’s any good.

We spent $600 per night (5 people) and feel it was not worth it.

Excellent stay! The staff was welcoming and charming. Our room (501) had views from two sides and we could watch a beautiful sunset. The shower had great water pressure.

Meals were served in a cavernous dining hall (it felt a little like summer camp, you are with your own group) but the food was superb!

Very nice bath. We managed to hit at a quiet time, but one night we decided to go for a walk first and noticed a large number of people heading to the bath, so you may have a different experience.

Staying overnight (we stayed two) in Miyajima is far superior to day-tripping it, and Motoko is a great place to stay
