Overall, I would recommend this place for the price, but I did not have the best experience that I could/should. My biggest issue was the door. I was locked out for 3 hours my first day. The host was not very responsive - though apologetic - did nothing to accommodate me. It was further frustrating because there was a physical key that the host could have given me access to as soon as I told them that I was have issues with the security lock. Hotels.com contacted the host for me and could not reach them. While the host gives lots of lists of rules to follow while staying, they did not seem to hold themselves to same standard when the lock was not working. And honestly, it was likely just a low battery. That made it worse. They did not offer a partial refund for my inconvenience. Also, it is not in the most convenient location. So if you are traveling with a lot of luggage or have mobility issues, I would not recommend it. Otherwise it was clean, well-maintained (outside of the door lock), good space for the price paid and good amenities.

Dear Karla,Thank you very much for staying at Ritz Residence Sumida and for taking the time to share your feedback.First and foremost, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you experienced due to the smart lock issue on your first day, which left you locked out for a prolonged period. I am also deeply sorry that our communication was delayed and that we failed to provide a prompt solution, such as arranging the physical key sooner. We take your comments very seriously. We are currently reviewing our emergency communication procedures and implementing stricter maintenance checks (including regular battery replacements and clearer backup-key access protocols) to ensure this never happens again. We also note your feedback regarding the location. While we are glad to hear that you found the room clean, spacious, well-equipped, and good value for the price, we deeply regret that the initial issue overshadowed your overall experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with a much smoother and more comfortable stay.
