本陣平野屋 花兆庵

妻の誕生日記念で宿泊しました。以前よりかなり料金が上がっていましたが、お誕生日のサプライズプレゼントをいただけたり、部屋のリニューアルもしっかりとなされていたりで、満足できるものでした。特に、女性専用の入浴施設である「蔵」が妻のお気に入りで、今度は東京にいる娘と一緒に来たいと言っていました。自分的には、サウナルームが欲しいのと、部屋のお風呂の混合栓がダイヤル式の旧態依然としたものだったので使いづらくちょっと残念でした。夕食は「すし兆」でいただくことができました。相変わらずの美味しさで、親方さんには、お元気で1日も長く続けていただきたいです。次はいつ来られるかな？

私達は電車で高山へ行きましたが、あらかじめ到着時刻を伝えておくと車で迎えに来てくれて荷物をおいてから観光できるので非常に便利でした。
食事は飛騨牛づくしをいただきましたが絶品でした。朝食も豪華でした。

素敵な空間におもてなしの数々

秋口に家族3人で1泊しました。清流の宮川や名所の中橋に近く、古い町並みがとても素敵な上三之町などにも歩いてすぐの場所です。玄関を入ると素敵な空間が広がり、お出迎えから気配りが行き届いています。お部屋の案内で女中さんのすばらしいおもてなし、お食事は季節に合わせた器で、四季折々の食材を使ったお料理、食べるのがもったいなくなるような盛り付けに舌鼓を打ちました。ちょっとしたことですが、チェックイン前やチェックアウト後でも、古い町並みの散策に出かけるのに荷物を預かって頂き、とても助かりました。色々な気遣いに支えられて、いい思い出が沢山できました。

季節を変えて何度も泊まりたいお宿です！

食事が個室でだったのでゆっくり頂けました。
お料理は季節感もあり朝夕ともに郷土料理が味わえてよかったです。
お風呂は広くはありませんが十分な広さです。
利用出来るのはもう1箇所あるので、
朝夕変えて入りに行きました。
清潔でアメニティもよかったです。
スタッフの方は皆さん親切丁寧や対応でした。
立地もとても良くすぐに街並みを観光できる場所にあります。

約10年ぶり、2度目の宿泊でしたが、施設、サービスは最高です！心遣い、お・も・て・な・しの教育が素晴らしく、担当の仲居さんは若い子でしたが、一生懸命お世話してくれました。他の従業員との連携も素晴らしかったです。是非又行きたいと思います。
夕飯、朝食も手が込んだ素晴らしいお料理でした。

正確な情報がほしかった

太鼓でお出迎えしていただき快適に過ごせました。食事も満足。残念だったのが、私たちの係りの方から、明日の朝食の時間を選ぶよう言われ迷っていたら朝市に行ってからゆっくりと召し上がってはと提案され、朝市も楽しみの１つだったのでそうしました。あさ早起きしてお風呂に入り朝市に出かけたところがらんとして店は1件も出ていませんでした。フロントの方に聞くとこの時期はほとんど店は出てないとのこと。正確な情報がほしかったです。

高山の観光スポットである高山陣屋へは徒歩2-3分、古い街並みを散策するにも程近く、最高のロケーションです。従業員の方の対応も気持ちよく、食事も工夫の凝らした素晴らしいものばかりでした。

This property is good. The hotel is old but the staff is family owned and they take great care of you. The facilities are acceptable for the town but the service and staff make up for it. I would recommend it just letting people know if not new. It is clean, well located and comfortable.

DO NOT book this Hotel

It’s a scam, pictures really differ from reality. They try to charge extra for things you didn’t order. It smelled terrible. DO NOT STAY AT ANY PRICE. I was charged more than a Four Seasons in Tokyo. The room smelled rotten eggs and at night it smelled the hotel kitchen in your room. I believe Ryokans is a tourist trap to avoid at all costs, specially this one. English is barely spoken so communication is really hard. The different parties that we were checking out at the same time were really glad that our stay there was coming to an end.

I recently spent 3 nights at the Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan and loved it. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. The whole experience from the room to the food and onsen gave me a really good insight in to Japanese culture. Property is very central, close to old town and restaurants. I tried both the Japanese and American breakfasts and liked both. I would recommend this property for people who want amazing service, a modern property close to everything and those that want to experience the Japanese culture.

The dinner is a bit disappointed. The sashimi seems comes out from frozen food and no taste of fish at all.
In general, the staff service is great. Maybe I will stay there next time but without meal at all.

Excellent Ryokan with first class service and superb dining (beautifully presented and delicious breakfast and kaiseki dinner if choosing the half board option). Room was immaculately clean and decorated in tasteful traditional style. A very enjoyable stay.

Impressive stay experience

Very good location, just 5-minute walk to Old town. Super nice and great service-minded staff, especially Ms. Eriko, the landlady. All needed amenities are provided. We enjoy delicious food with pleasant food decoration. Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan is the only place we will stay every time we visit Takayama.

Excellent comfortable traditional Japanese inn

Excellent location walkable to all main areas and restaurants. 10 min walk to JR and bus station but they offer complimentary private shuttle to and from station. Staff is very attentive to every detail. From pick up at the station to checkin, dinner and breakfast and throughout the stay. Service is very personalized and knows the needs of each guest. They have a very nice women’s onsen however need to go outside across the street. Fully equipped amenities in the public baths. Food was excellent with the best ingredients all from local sources. We stayed 3 nights but only had one dinner and wished we had for an extra meal. Breakfast was large in portions with lots of detail and thoughtfulness. Delicious and nutritious!! Traditional Japanese rooms were spacious and had comfortable tatamis. Definitely recommended for a nice relaxing time in Takayama!!

The best place to stay in Takayama

Location is amazing. All the stores were walking distance, practically at your doorstep. Service was impeccable. The ryokan provides transportation to and frm train station. There are 3 onsen affiliated w this ryokan. One on property and 2 across the street. They provide yukata in your room. Would recommend one Japanese style dinner and breakfast on site. It’s a wonderful experience. I would love to come back for the service and the location convenience. Beautiful place to stay.

10/10, worth every penny!!! The ultimate ryokan experience. Every details and aspects of the stay is warm and comfortable. From the moment you enter the door, you are greeted the most welcoming staff. The room is spacious, clean, and full of Japanese details. The meals are abundant and delicious, every dish is a work of art. There are 3 onsens to choose from, each one is super clean and filled with amenities. The location is the ryokan is a 10 minute walk from the Takayama station and right in the heart of the old town.

Wow - where do I start? This was an amazing place. Our first experience of a Ryokan but we were truly impressed from the reception on arrival with drum, to the superb rooms, the extremely attentive, but not intrusive, staff. 本身對房間都幾滿意 但睇房間Catalog介紹先發現房間嘅風呂只係熱水而唔係溫泉水 呢方面有啲失望 始終唔係特別平 但共用嘅女性專用風呂就別有一番風味 環境好舒適 整體員工都親切友善

Our stay at the high-end Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan was an amazing experience. When we arrived that evening, they led us right in for a fancy kaiseki dinner in a private room. We didn't love all of the food options, but they were great to try, and we loved the experience. Next night, we are at their yummy sushi restaurant. The beds were traditional but extra fluffy. The baths were one of my favorite places of my trip. So beautiful and lots of them. The soaps etc they offer are really worth trying--they smell beautiful and left my skin so soft.

The whole stay was flawless and staff are really very consciously looking after your needs.

The in room bath pool overlooking a small garden was cool. The dining experience was most excellent.

Lastly we left a jacket in the wardrobe and realized that at the train station with minutes to board!; as my daughter was on the phone to hotel; the driver had retrieved the jacket and showed up at the station to return the jacket.

This will never happen anywhere else - really appreciated the service levels.

This was a special anniversary trip for me and my wife and we wanted to select a hotel with an in room onsen so that we could onsen together.

So we decided to splurge on this hotel and booked the following room: Japanese Style Semi Open Air Bath

The pictures made it look like there is an onsen in the room so that’s why we booked this place which was 6 times more expensive than a nearby equivalent hotel.

However the first room we were offered when we checked in clearly was a bath tub not an onsen.

After showing the check in person the pictures on the web site, we were then offered a second room which had a bath which was smaller version of what was in the booking page picture but again not an onsen, only regular water and was told that it only looked like an onsen for decorative purposes.

We felt pretty deceived by the booking pictures as it made it look like there was an onsen in the room and this is not uncommon in Japan.

This really ruined our anniversary, and put a damper on our stay in Takayama.

So in summary beware if you want a private onsen in your room this place does not offer it.

A lifetime experience indeed.

It is definitely a memorable and a lifetime experience for a non-Japanese to stay in this exclusive ryokan. Onsen was a plesant expefience as well. The attention to detail and our preferences for food at dinner and breakfast. Staff was very helpful to help locate and return our lost sake. Thank you!!!
We didn't know there was a outer coat in the cupboard and got a bit cold running to the onsen.

A real taste of traditional Japan. Everything from the room, meals and staff was as advertised. The onset was good, but nothing "traditional" per say in the decor...but the process (ritual) was true to the correct way to bathe.

First time at a traditional ryokan

It was our first experience at a traditional ryokan so we didn’t know what to expect. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and guided us through the entire experience. Surprisingly the food was amazing even though it was japanese style dinner which we are not familiar with- they considered all of our food preferences and limitations. The location is very good- 10 minutes walk from the station and 2 minutes walk from the old town. In the rooms is a set of traditional kimonos which you can dress and take a walk outside the hotel with. The only downsides i can think of was the really uncomfortable futon to sleep on at night and the relatively expensive price for a 1 night stay.

Our best stay in Japan! The hotel was beautiful and immaculately clean, the staff were so friendly, polite and helpful. The food was incredible and worth every penny. We travelled with a young toddler and everyone was so warm and hospitable and so good with our child. Cant recommend this place enough and couldnt have asked for a better experience!!
