古い建物ですが、手入れされている印象です。周辺は喫煙可のホテルが多かったのですが、禁煙の部屋に宿泊したくてこちらのホテルにしました。館内もタバコ臭くなかったので好印象です。また温泉から見える景色が最高でした。

五重塔を目前に入る露天風呂は最高

興福寺の五重塔を目の前にして入る露天風呂は最高です。奈良の宿はいくつも泊まりましたが、露天風呂がある宿は初めてでした（他にも新しい宿でできているのかもしれません）。
環境への配慮は要改善です。部屋にペットボトルの水は不要（チェックイン時に必要かどうか聞けばよい）。風呂用のプラスチック製のアメニティ（かみそり、ヘアブラシ、歯ブラシなど）も不要。必要な人がもらうようにすればよいです。部屋のコーヒーの砂糖とミルクがプラ袋でくるまれているその袋も不要。使い捨てプラがありすぎです。チェックイン時に部屋まで案内してくれなくていいので、その人件費を使って環境配慮をしたほうがよいと感じます。旅館っぽくしているのかもしれませんが、世界の潮流からは遅れているので、特にこれから外国人客を呼び込むなら環境配慮は必須です。

予約後詳細を確認していなかったからか、子ども用の追加布団が敷かれていなかったり、フルブレックファストに食事付きにしていた幼児分が出てこなかった。
朝食の内容も子どもは好みではなく食べなかったので敢えてその場では何も言わなかったけれど、子ども分追加料金を支払っているのに対応はされていなかった。予約システムとの行き違いかなとも思う。
雨が降り傘を持っていなかったので貸してもらえたのはありがたかった。

サービスが良い

別のグループがチェックアウトしてる間、元気で遊び盛りの小さな子ども達の相手をしていました。元気のいい年代なのでチェックアウトの手続きで目を離してる間どこかへ行ってしまったりすることも考えられます。しかし従業員の方が相手をしてくれていた為すぐ見える場所に留まれていたのが親御さんにも安心なサービスだと感じました

家族5人での滞在でしたが、部屋がとても広くゆったり過ごせました。
食事は部屋食で、一品一品見た目も味もゆっくり楽しむ事が出来ました。
家族にもとても好評でした。

奈良滞在に是非とも

とても居心地の良いホテルでした。
部屋も思っていたより広く、アメニティも充実していました。
朝ごはん付きのプランで奈良名物の茶粥を初めていただきました。
茶粥もですがそれ以外の品も大変美味しくいただけました。
スタッフの皆さんもみな優しく素晴らしかったです。

興福寺に近く奈良市内にもアクセスが良いホテル

奈良公園にも、奈良市内にもアクセスが良く、最高のロケーションでした。お部屋は広くて清潔で、家族5人でもゆったりと過ごせました。アメリカから来たのですが、外国人向けに大浴場の入り方や浴衣の着方の説明が置いてあるのも良いと思いました。子供たちも初めての日本旅館の大浴場、朝食に大変喜んでいました。

露天風呂がいい！

なんといっても、露天風呂がよかったです。洗い場が二つしかないので、混んでいる時は待ちますが、３月末の平日は、いつ行っても貸切状態。興福寺の五重の塔を見ながら、ゆったり入れました。アメニティも、クオリティが高く、感心しました。玄関で、転んで怪我をした娘に、さっと、消毒セットを出してくださったフロントの方に感謝です。次回も、また泊まりたいです。

This has been my favorite hotel since I began coming to Japan it was super nice and the staff was awesome and very helpful. Loved the open air bath and the break was amazing. We stayed an extra night because it was so awesome. Close to many attractions too. We will definitely be back

Fabulous. Could not have been better. Across the street from the tourist office and within walking distance of all the gorgeous shrines, museums, and historic points of interest. Also easily walked to very special restaurants after using the hot baths. Most important, the staff could not have been more wonderful. They went above and beyond on every occasion — including escorting us to our cab with umbrellas in the rain. Our favorite so far.

Okay, needs updating.

The photos looked amazing but in reality our room was dated and felt a bit unclean. The bathroom smelled of urine all night. Overall I felt this was much more traditional than anywhere else we stayed so I feel as though this may need to be taken with a grain of salt. They just need to spruce thungs up a bit.

The redeeming factor was the outdoor onsen, at night you have a view of the nearby Pagoda and it is spectacular.

I had assumed the included breakfast would be a cup of tea and a roll or something simple. Instead it was a multi-year traditional Japanese gourmet extravaganza. Absolutely stunning and delicious.

Western guests might want to bring an auxiliary backup towel, and adjust expectations about "cosy" bathrooms, but it is a perfectly workable compromise for a traditional ryokan and you'll want to spend more time in the multiple rooftop baths anyway which have plenty of space.

Already thinking of when I can go back!

Great location and welcome in Nara

Perfect spot, location location location and rooftop onsen! I stayed one night while doing motorcycle tour of Wakayama area. The hotel staff was wonderful, great check in with my name on the board and they provided easy covered parking. English was no problem. The hotel was easy to find and right outside Nara Park. The room was fine, great temperature. Wifi was free and worked well. The onsen was perfect for end of day. It is rainy season so no sunset, but when clear would be wonderful. Breakfast was superb, Japanese style. The charcoal grilled fish at your table was a notch above. Will be back

Such Helpful Staff, Amazing Place

This was a very cool ryokan just steps away from all the sights in Nara. The staff was very helpful with some requests that I had, there's a nice relaxing lounge to have tea in, the Japanese breakfast was phenomenal and they really take care of you there. The open-air hot spring on the top floor with a view of a pagoda at a nearby temple was a great way to unwind at the end of the day.

Fantastic place!

Wonderful traditional Inn, great location, wonderful staff. We also reserved the chefs dinner, which I highly recommend, delicious! And we reserved the private bath which over looks the five story pagoda lit up at night. Really was a fantastic stay.

Highly recommend

This was my first ryokan experience, and I was very impressed. Our room was spacious with a great view of Kofukuji's pagoda. When we arrived, the person at the front desk took us to our room and explained everything. We were also given an afternoon sweet, which was a nice touch. We booked a room with dinner and breakfast included. Dinner was served in our room, and though the server didn't speak any English (so we didn't know what everything was), the food was great and experience of the multi-course meal was wonderful. I am a picky eater, so I didn't eat everything (I passed it to my husband) but I have since read in other reviews that you can request a vegetarian meal. Breakfast was equally as grand, served in the dining room. Note that it is a Japanese breakfast. We also used the private bath (an extra fee of about $32 US). As someone who wouldn't feel relaxed in the public bath, I thought the private bath was totally worth it - relaxing with an incredible view of the pagoda. As it was my first time at a ryokan, I was nervous about the rules and etiquette so I did a lot of googling, and I would also recommend doing that for other first timers. The hotel provides a binder of information, but I found it helpful to also read other tips online.

The experience of the ryokan aside, this property is also in an excellent location in Nara. We were able to walk from the Kintetsu Nara station and walk to Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga-Taisha, Nara Park, etc.

Hotel is in a great location and overall hotel condition is good. However compared to another Nara ryokan that I have stayed at last year, Asukasou lacks in english speaking staff and menu hence I did not enjoy the full experience. Also staff as not as friendly and food is subpar compared to the other Nara ryokan that I have stayed at.

位置非常赞，奈良中心位置。往北上坡便是兴福寺，往西步行200就是近铁商业街，往东5分钟便是春日大社入口。奈良本身也不大，酒店不管去哪里都非常方便。

酒店房间不多，我数了一下，大概也就30多间，一共4层，有电梯。我们住在4楼，正好室内汤和露天汤都在4楼，两步就到，每天早晚泡一泡，没有人，包场的感觉，真是太舒服了。特别是室外汤，正对兴福寺五重塔，大清早对着世界文化遗产泡汤那种感觉，无法描述。

Good hotel near to Nara Park

Drove and park there (free parking). Near and easy access to Nara Park & Shrine. Staff is very good and helpful. Given a very big room for family of 4, with lounge and siting area. separate onsen for male & female, with 1 pool only (Nobody used it when we used it twice). Enjoyed the morning run around Nara park and shrine, followed with a relaxing onsen in the morning. Good traditional Japanese breakfast.

It's a great experience for a Japan style hotel. The room is very large and comfy. The staffs are very nice and speak good English. It's next to the park so we went back to feed the deers the next morning. The meals have many dishes/variety. We enjoyed the open air bath which has tower view.

Welcoming and Friendly

Really amazing place. We didn't realize that when we booked it included meals (I am not sure if all bookings do.) The food was traditional Japanese so some of it was a little outside my comfort zone but I still had more than enough to fill me up and found that I really liked most of it. The staff was so friendly and really went made this a very pleasant stay. We felt very well taken care of. I would recommend to anyone to stay here.

We stayed at Asukasou for one night in Nara. The property is very nice and well located near Nara Park, and our room was large by Japan or international standards. The futons were very comfortable. The Japanese style breakfast in the dining room was great.

服務非常好，客房又大又乾淨，我們選擇一泊二食的方案，晚餐及早餐的菜色都很豐富，非常滿足！大眾溫泉池水質很乾淨，環境很好，不過只開放到半夜12點半，我還真的遇到12點半我還在池子裡但溫泉水流很準時的就停了。

My stay was excellent.

The check in staff was very friendly. She walked me through the property and gave me a through introduction. bed was so comfortable. outdoor hot spring was very clean with a beautiful view. I loved everything except the next morning I had to leave the hotel to catch an early shuttle bus to the airport. I had to carry two big luggage passing the front desk and the staff there didn't help me. He actually portent didn't see me. Other than that, all wonderful!

What a Wonderful Find!

What a wonderful find in Nara! I travel on business so much and wanted a change of pace. This was the perfect place. The friendly people, the traditional Japanese style inn with indoor and out door baths, and wonderful food. I will definitely go back again my next visit to Nara.

Beautiful, modern ryokan with all the right featur

This is a lovely ryokan, but updated to have larger rooms, a/c, a great bath and a nice enclosed deck. The people at this ryokan were anxious to please and incredibly gracious. The breakfast was amazing. We would have loved to had dinner, but there was no availability.

By the way, it is within a 10 minute or so walk to Nara Park and Todiji Shrine and just across the street from the 5 story Pagoda (we could see it lit at night from our room)!

Thank you Asukasou

This is the 1st time I wrote comment on the hotel after the trip. Asukasou is worth for me to spend time to write something. Hotel itself is not new, some areas may be a bit disrepair. But the services of staff could offset the weakness. Staff in Asukasou is very attentive and you can feel they serve the guests from heart.
You must try the Japanese dinner served in room. Though it's not very comfort to sit on the floor to take the dinner in particular for the elderly, but the food quality and variety was really excellent. Also it's a relax to have dinner in room with your beloved families.
Private bath is also another good try. Not high expectation when i booked. But when we accessed the private bath room, you will find it's worth to pay additional JPY3000 to have it. The environment, facilities and atmosphere are all in high quality. Bath itself is very good. I brought my daughter with me and she loved such experience very much! Will stay again in Asukasou when i visit Nara.....one more thing Nara is very nice and i don't think day trip is sufficient to find out her uniqueness.

Ryokan moderno

Questo albergo dispone di Ryokan moderni, in tutto e per tutto simili ai tradizionali Ryokan, ma con servizi come aria condizionata e bagno in camera. I Ryokan hanno una vista mozzafiato sulla pagoda del parco di Nara (noi eravamo al quarto piano). La stanza è meravigliosa, con tatami, tavolo tradizionale, angolo salotto e bollitore per il tè. Noi abbiamo scelto la cena in camera, un'esperienza consigliatissima: una vera cena tradizionale e abbondante. Allo stesso piano ci sono due piccoli onsen uni interno e uno esterno con vista sulla pagoda (mozzafiato).
Anche la colazione tradizionale è ottima e abbondante.
Unica pecca l'aria condizionata un po' rumorosa.
Il tutto a 2 passi dal parco di Nara e personale molto cordiale.

Amazing views with great amenities

Our stay here was so relaxing after traveling for a few weeks. We loved our room, the food and the private baths! The view from our room was outstanding and the proximity to The deer park (and other shops) was great. Good hotel for deeper Nara tourism

We stayed here 3-night for a Nara visit. The hotel seemed a bit far from the JR station on foot especially with travel luggages. However, it turns out it was worth the walk. The hotel is very close to several of Nara's most famous temples and the park (with deers!). Not to mention the included breakfast is very delicious and Japanese-style. The staffs were friendly. We had a wonderful time in Nara.

Best. Stay. Ever.

This hotel was sooooooo nice! The staff were very attentive to details. I arrived in a taxi, and one of the staff members met me outside and carried my heavy bag from the taxi to the desk, and then escorted me to my room. Even though I do not speak Japanese, the staff made every effort to make my stay easy... they even brought me an English copy of the Japanese Times, and stopped by my room to deliver tea and coffee throughout the day when I was in my room. I got breakfast and dinner with my stay for both nights, and OMG the food was delicious! I think it may have been the best meals I ate in Japan (other than my lunch in Kobe :) ). I also used the private bath. It was beautiful! I loved everything about my stay there, and would happily go back.

Un autentico ryokan modernizado. Como en todo Japón, atención inigualable. A pasos de las principales atracciones (y no tan cerca de la estación, pero sin problema para caminar, no más de 10'). Cómodas habitaciones y un excelente desayuno (si buscan algo tradicional japonés, no un desayuno continental). Excelente opción para relajarse un día entre tanto recorrido.

Extremely comfortable stay near Nara Park

Very pleasant stay which is located within walking distance from Nara Park, the main attraction. The staff were extremely courteous although there was a language barrier with some of them. It was an interesting first stay for us in a ryokan, and indulging in a full-spread Japanese breakfast. Would definitely come back to stay if I'm ever in the area!

킨텐츠 나라역에서 10분 거리에 있어 교통이 매우 편리했어요.
저희는 간사이 공항에서 바로 리무진을 타고 바로 킨텐츠 나라역에서 내렸어요.
숙소 근처에는 흥복사가(고후쿠지) 3분거리에 있어서 야간에 잠깐 나와 조명 켜 놓은 탑 구경하고
산조도리 상점가도 구경했습니다.

숙소는 Japanese modern room을 선택했는데 넓고 깔끔했어요.
욕탕도 사용할 수 있었는데 두명씩 들어가서 씻고, 탕에 들어가서 쉴 수 있었어요.
야간 조명을 켜 놓은 고후쿠지 탑이 보이는 노천탕이 최고였습니다^^

석식과 조식 둘 다 훌륭했습니다.
석식을 통해 일본 요리를 다 먹어본 것 같아요. 튀김, 고기, 회 등등.
조식은 일본 가정식으로 전갱이 구이를 줍니다.

일본에 왔다는 느낌이 확 드는 곳이었네요. 돈이 전혀 아깝지 않았어요. ^^

료칸여행~굿~!!

직원들도 친절했고 무엇보다 야외목욕탕
최고였습니다.나라역에서 5분거리라 위치도 좋고 찾기도 쉬워서 편리했습니다.
단,아쉬운게 있다면 아침식사가 보기엔 좋은데
맛이 좀..배고파서 먹긴했는데 식사는 안하는걸로..
