I am Japanese, who stayed this hotel with my foreign friends.
I love this guest house style using old Japanese house. It is not modern at all, but it would be very comfortable for everyone. Also, you will have the special interesting experience under Japanese style with hot spring.
You will have a relax time with nice drinks and food at the lobby space.
They will serve nice pizza and Japanese alcohol.
The staff are very kind and friendly with very casual conversation, not like 5 stars hotel.
If I have a chance, I will stay this place again.

一年生の息子が大分騒がしくしたのにすごく温かく見守っていただいて楽しめました。お風呂は暗くて怖かったみたいですが。貴重な経験でした。
チェックアウト後も翌日も思い出して「また行きたい」と泣いていました。

温泉とスタッフの対応ががよかったです。価格も手頃です。
ただ、近所にはレストランやコンビニはないのが残念なところです。来る前に買って行くほうが良いかもしれません。
建物が古くて隣の喋る声が聞こえますが、部屋ごとに耳栓が置いています。

スタッフの方は皆さん親しみがもて、24時間利用可能な貸切風呂が2つあります。またコーヒーや紅茶など自由に使う共同のキッチンもあり便利です。また、宿のすぐ近くに系列のCOFFEE CAMP という美味しいお店があります。コーヒーやオープンサンド、ホットドッグは秀逸な美味しさでビジュアルもワクワクします。概ね素敵な宿ですからリピートはしますが、一つだけ気になるのは、音かな。古い建物なので仕方ないかもですが。

スタッフの方が親切に館内を説明してくださいました。
雨で濡れた靴を乾かしてくださり、ほんとうに助かりました。
お風呂は貸し切り式なのでくつろげます。
シャワールーム、キッチン、ダイニングスペース、トイレ洗面所も、さっぱりきれいに片付いていて気持ちがよく、広々として使いやすかったです。
現代的で清潔感がありながら、山小屋泊のような気取らない楽しさもある、すてきなホステルでした。
耳栓のサービスも気が利いていてさすがでした（笑）楽しい時間をありがとうございました。

経済的でスタッフの対応も良かったです。

個室の内鍵が外から開けられそうなので、不安でした。改善してほしいです。部屋の外に出るたびに硬い南京錠をかけねばならず、不便でした。それ以外は、快適でした。特に朝食のパンは絶品で、是非レシピを教えて頂きたいものです。来年の予約をしました。

テレビ、歯ブラシ、寝間着などないことはインターネットの案内に記載しておいてほしい。

従業員が親切で、明るく、ホテル全体も綺麗でした。共同の部屋でしたので、朝早く起きた人がいて、少しうるさかったが、しようがないものです。
周りは食事の場所が少ないのが難点です。歯みがきセットがなかったようでした。

強羅駅から至近のおしゃれでcozyな本格温泉ゲストハウス

・全般に宿代が高い箱根でリーズナブルなところを探していたら偶然ヒットした。
・宿の人によると、客層は殆ど外国人で日本人の方がマイノリティで、３ヶ月前から受付開始するがすぐ満室になってしまい、電話での問い合わせでも断り続けているとのこと。
・３人部屋に泊まったが部屋は清潔に保たれている。
・一階のロビーはバーカウンターやハンモックもあり、酒を飲みながらゴロゴロマッタリ出来た。

このような形態の宿泊施設では仕方ないのですが同じ部屋に宿泊した人のいびきがすごかった
今回耳栓を準備しなかったことに後悔しました

手作り感のあるリノベーションした建物はセンス良くこの金額で温泉付きなのもよかった
バーコーナーでいただいたピザは炭火で焼いた鶏肉が香り良く生地ももちもちで美味でした

口コミを見てこちらのゲストハウスに決めました！！
数日前に電話で、人数を3人から2人に変更をしたのですが、3人部屋を予約していたので、金額の変更は出来ないと言われて承知して電話を切ったのですが、数分後に電話が来て2人部屋の方が3人部屋がいいと言われたので二人分の料金で大丈夫ですよ。と親切にご連絡くださいました。
宿に着いた時もスタッフの方が一生懸命説明してくれてとても感じが良かったです。

温泉もついていてステキなお風呂でした。

また、機会があれば利用したいです。

アットホームな古民家ゲストハウス

古い建物ながら内装も素敵で女性スタッフも優しい。基本的に日本人中国人の利用が多かった。日本人でも空き巣はするし、差別するわけではないが、多国籍の人が宿泊するので部屋の鍵が簡単に壊せそうな錠前のみで心配。
ただ、本当に過ごしやすく、スタッフの方も良い方が多いです。

My daughter & I had a great stay and would definitely come back to this guesthouse again. Friendly staff, central location in Gora with easy access to all the transport. Traditional type rooms & with access to a private onsen. Relaxing common area with option to participate in hostel activities & meet other travelers. The staff were the best!

Most Friendly Staff Ever!

Hakone Tent was one of my favorite stays while backpacking in Japan! The staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. Beautiful traditional rooms and relaxing onsens. The staff member Mana was outstanding. She had great recommendations of what to do in the area and would immediately help you with whatever you need. Great people like Mana made Hakone my favorite part of Japan! Can’t wait to return and reconnect with new friends.

Our host (Tai) was very friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean, the location was excellent (very close to Gora Station) and it was affordable. The place could use a little fixing up. At least one bathroom stall was closed (inoperable), one shower operable but needed fixing, and in the rock onsen, one of the shower hoses was leaking. Great for budget but could be better if some maintenance was done.

The place is a few minutes walk from the train station. The room is clean and the staff is friendly. We’re able to book the onsen for a nice hot soak. There was no onsite restaurant open when we stayed. It was a bit of hilly walk to a restaurant.

The staff are wonderful and so friendly. The location is a short walk from the Gora station and there’s a lovely coffee shop at the base of the hill the hotel is on.

The rooms are plenty spacious and the bar / social area is warmly lit and friendly. The other guests staying were welcoming and chatty but would give you space if needed to.

And the onsen!? Amazing.
The stone bath is a great size to relax in and you can book a slot for the evening before you head out in the morning, the cypress bath is a little smaller but it’s available to use without a reservation. Either way, a lovely experience.

L'entrée et le bar, très sympas et chaleureux ne représentent pas vraiment l'état du reste du bâtiment. Il faudrait vraiment songer à rafraîchir les chambres et les couloirs. Il y a peu d'isolation et la chambre se ferme par un petit cadenas.
L'endroit est sympa et très bien situé. Il convient parfaitement pour les backpackers, moins pour les personnes plus âgées.

Mother and daughters trip

The hostel is in a remodeled Ryokan so the walls are thin. It was not a huge problem as nobody was exceptionally noisy. They had earplugs available in room. Felt very safe staying as a mother with daughters. Doors to room, shared bathroom, shared shower, and onsen all locked.

A wonderful hotel and equally a wonderful staff. The location of the hotel is fantastic and is quite close to the famous attractions such as gora park or the Hakone open air museum. I would recommend anyone who is interested in a traditional Japanese house, a fun atmosphere and a nice onsen to consider this place.

I loved my stay here that regret staying just one night. The food is great, the receptionist is very friendly. The room may look old but it's very cozy. I slept like a baby after using the onsen, which is accessible even beyond the reservation hours. Shower is equipped with amenities and very clean. No breakfast at the place but there's a coffee shop near.

The pantry is stocked with coffee/tea if you'd want to have a cup in the middle of the night (like me). If I'll visit Hakone again, I'll stay here.

A Gem in Hakone

Very nice stay, with friendly and helpful staff and nice property (we stayed in the apartment). Convenient location, good food, nice amenities. The only downside is that the heaters kept on turning off.

I recently encountered an unfortunate situation during my family's stay at this hostel as the shared showers were spoilt upon our arrival. Definitely, we recognize that such issues are unfortunate and not within the hostel's control.

However, we felt that the service recovery was significantly lacking. At this point, I would like to highlight that the staffs were really pleasant and polite throughout the entire process, we could see that they were frantic due to the situation however they still tried their best to maintain their composure. In an effort to address the inconvenience, the only compensation provided was a free small pizza for our family of four adults. While we appreciate any gesture to remedy the situation, it seems insufficient given the impact on our overall stay, especially considering the unresolved fundamental aspect of our stay—access to basic amenities.

While acknowledging the efforts of the staff, I believe there's an opportunity for improvement at a higher level in terms of service recovery. In my past experiences with similar unfortunate incidents in other accommodations, some were able to offer a small refund as part of their resolution process.

We stayed here because it was traditional accommodation with an onsen near the train station in Gora. We weren’t disappointed with that part of the experience. We loved the private onsen and slept well on the mats, but because of the building is traditional and very old, it is showing it’s age. They provide you with ear plugs because the walls are literally paper thin. The staff were great. Gora is a sleepy town with not a lot of food options - especially in the morning. We walked to a 7-11 down a very pretty, but steep pathway. If you are looking for a little exercise to get you going in the morning this is a great option. There is also a coffee shop near the hotel. We did have really good food at Mami cafe, which opened at 11 am. We ate there before we started out for a full afternoon of tourist attractions.

Great inhouse restaurant

Party of three adults, stayed for 1 night in June. Hotel is an easy walk to the local Rail and other local transportation station. The in-house restaurant is very good; all our dishes were excellent and affordable. Room was very nice and offered more than enough space for 3 adults with backpacks. We also enjoyed the rooftop terrace for a quick lunch.

Stayed for 3 nights with family - fabulous experience for 2 boys 11&13 to stay with traditional futon beds, onsen and fabulous staff.
Using Hakone free pass we loved the loop trip took around 6 hours and on a rainy day went to the outlet mall (30 minutes on bus)
Highly recommend Pub Stop for amazing pizza and craft beer. If you are more flush then try next doors Gora Brewery & Grill by Nora - also delicious.

很適合背包客

要走一段斜坡才會到旅社. 房間在2樓,公共溫泉跟淋浴間在地下一樓,所以如果有大型行李或是行動不便者會比較辛苦.投幣式洗衣乾衣機在戶外,建議再清潔一下.晚餐bar很熱鬧,料理價格不算貴也好吃.晚上10點後就要寢室熄燈(意思是要安靜),隔音如網路上分享的真得不好.很適合背包客,如果對乾淨很要求的旅客就不建議了.店家態度很優

My son and I had a great stay while visiting Hakone. The room was large and clean, the location in gora was nice, and we enjoyed the coffee shop next door. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed the common areas. The kitchen is bright and the fridge accommodates breakfast food, if needed.

Excellent Ryokan style hostel

Excellent Japanese Ryokan style hostel. No ensuite bathroom but clean communal toilets and showers. Also shared kitchen with all amenities. 2 hot springs located in the basement that we enjoyed.

The staff at the Hakone Tent were friendly and attentive, and ensured our stay was perfect. Their warm hospitality made us feel like valued guests; they were friendly, attentive and made sure our stay was comfortable. We were able to book the onsen for a 40 min private soak. The mineral rich waters were warm and my skin felt so soft afterwards. Not to mention the location was great, close to the transit station and surrounding attractions. Would stay here again!

Cozy, affordable and friendly.

Staff very friendly and helpful. We had to cancel plans in Hakone due to an injury and the staff were happy to let us relax before check in.
Food was tasty and good value (try the lasagna and garlic bread!) and the Stone onsen was amazing. Be prepared. It’s HOT.

The room we had was the three person private room. Affordable and spacious. Woke up to a rain storm in the morning and it was super cozy being under a futon on the tatami flooring.

Loved our stay, would definitely stay again!

Nous avons deposés nos bagages le matin, celà nous a permis de visiter la ville et d'aller voir le mont Fudji, balade en bateau....
nous sommes revenus en fin d'après midi et les bagases nous attendaient dans la chambre au premier etage ! Belle chambre avec des futons!!
Nous avons diner sur place et sommes allés dans le magnifique onsen qu'ils nous ont réservé pour la famille uniquement. Merci

This property was really cool. Great food. We enjoyed the lasagna. The private onsen was so tranquil. You can book it upon check in. The staff speak english well, which was an added bonus. The quiet hour was at 10 PM, so I slept really well.

Had a one night stay here, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The onsen you can reserve is an amazing touch.

Kitchen bar were really good too. Great lasagna and one of the largest beers I’ve ever had (and only for 1,000 yen!).

Wasn’t too noisy when I stayed, but they did warn that it can be noisy because it’s an old style building. Admittedly wasn’t the most comfortable nice sleep I’ve ever had, but that’s sort of a given with tatami flooring/futon style (at least when you’re a 6 foot westerner). Even so, would still happily give this a 5/5.

放鬆的旅程

住宿點離車站很近，強羅車站從地下道(underpass)走，三分鐘到達民宿，但行李必須抬下樓梯，如果不想搬運行李，就跟著google導航走。
雖然是冬天來到箱根，但房間內暖氣好舒服，晚上睡得很好!!
房子有年紀了，夜晚很安靜的時候，關門會有聲音，吵到其他旅客，來到這裡需早一點睡覺。
民宿有兩個溫泉可以預約，一次40分鐘，不用和其他人一起使用，是私人空間，溫泉有兩個，一個小的一個大的，冬天泡溫泉超級享受!!
交誼廳有鋼琴可以彈，朋友可以在那裏放鬆休息，也有小廚房可以使用。
民宿人員態度很好，謝謝你們!!
我們買箱根周遊卷，火車巴士纜車船都可以搭乘，相當方便，推薦給大家!!!

The staff were amazing and helpful. The bar was comfortable and served yummy pizza. The place is older and a bit noisy. There are two onsen - one reservable and one first come first served. Would recommend the stay for the price. Location is close to the Gora station - really important for a stay in Hakone!

Hostels always depend on the ownership and the community. With bad ownership, it can be uninviting and intrusive, with good ownership, it can be fun and like a friendly community for cheap. In this case, it was the latter. My girlfriend and I had a great time together and the owners were very accomodating with our needs and even spoke English and conversed with me. Very nice people. Plus, the onsen was great. You get to reserve it for 40 minutes and it was well worth every minute. Just make sure you take your shower while you are down there because it is a shared bathroom otherwise.

This place was great! Walking distance from many local parks and small museums as well as several eateries and a convenience store. The onsen was very nice and the rooms very comfortable. I enjoyed swinging on the hammock in the common area :)

Guesthouse typique avec futons sur tatamis. Personnel tres sympa. Super ambiance le soir au bar. Tres bonne cuisine japonaise. table basse chauffante a essayer sans faute. 2 onsens pas toujours dispo, car privatisés. L'un et de bonne taille, l'autre trop petit et tres chaud.

Hakone Tent is a very traditional Japanese style hostel. Upon arrival the staff was attentive and kind. The common area plays nice music, has a bar with drinks and food, and there’s a kitchen to store food and cook. The room was extremely traditional containing only a sleeping mat and blankets. That’s it. The building itself seems fragile and you can hear everything in the entire building at all time. We are from America and had not experienced this style before and were extremely uncomfortable and could not sleep well. The location is close to Gora station but the rope way was down for an unknown reason and there was literally nothing to do in town except an expensive dinner at Gora Brewery so the location was inconvenient, especially since we were only in the area to try and see Fuji. The stay as a whole didn’t live up to the high cost we paid to stay at this location and because of that we didn’t feel this was a good value for our money. If you are traveling to Gora, be sure to research extensively and stay somewhere with comfortable sleeping arrangements. Even though the private onset is a cool experience, it’s really hot and does not make up for what the hostel is lacking.

Abordable

Un endroit vraiment pas chère et pas loin de la gare. Par contre c’est sur une montée il faut le savoir. Chambre assez atypique avec onsen génial à tester. Par contre juste une toilette pour tout l’hôtel c’est pas top et le personnel était vraiment passable au niveau des conseils ecttt... je reviendrai certainement pas mais pour un séjour pas chère ça peut être une bonne planque.

Great staff

The hostel is located at mid-way to hill, making it difficult to carry the suitcase up. We came on a rainy day and we didn't have an umbrella so the staff lend us one and let us keep it even after we left the hostel. There are only two shared bathrooms - men and women in the same space, which wasn't in the description of the room. No elevator.

I was very hesitant about staying in a hostel. Surprisingly, it was a very rewarding experience. The owners made you feel very welcome, the place was packed with a mix of people. Tried to get food after a late check in and ended up back at Hakone Tent bar because everything closes at 7PM. Food was surprisingly good. Everything appeared to be homemade, drinks were reasonably priced.

Property was clean and the onsen was small but one of our favorites... there are two private ones, you’ll have to wait your turn. They’re situated in the basement nestled between volcanic boulders. Small but very rustic and enjoyable.
