Had a good stay here. Rooms were comfortable though sometimes the doors got in the way. Would be better if they were all sliding doors. Location was pretty good. About a 25 minute walk from Kyoto station or 10 minutes from Shijo station. Taxi to and from Kyoto station average 1,000 yen. Staff was friendly, happy hour was nice.

We didn't get to stay here long but it was a very pleasant stay. We got one of the suites and it was well worth it. The kids had their own room and it was nice to spread out. They had a washwr and dryer with detergent provided.

The free water, coffee and drinks were very nice touch.

Would come back again.

Excellent room with plenty of space. Convinent location within easy walking distance to bus stops, subway station, and Nishiki market. Very friendly and helpful staff. I needed to search for a place to rent a wheelchair for my mother. The hotel staff offered one to us for free to use for the entire duration of our stay.

We had a great stay. We are a family of 5 with two littles and a teenager and the two room suite was perfect. Loved the amenities, we were able to start our day with hot tea. And we had the option of a happy hour which was usually around the time when we were returning from the day of exploration. Highly recommend.

Very nice property, just a short walk from Shijo Station. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful in providing recommendations, etc. We enjoyed our stay and would go back if we are ever in Kyoto again.

Loved this hotel, it felt like a small apartment and had plenty of room. Location was in the newer part of Kyoto, with lots of shopping and convenient stores. Close to 7 eleven and Larsin’s also.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment. This hotel was great for a three night stay. There is a small temple across the street that we visited. We were able to do laundry but watch the dryer, it shrunk my jeans! The front staff spoke excellent english, in fact one is from the USA. There is a grocery store and McDonalds within a few blocks. We ate at the Irish pub around the corner and the fish and chips was very good. There is free beer and sake for happy hour every night! It was a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely recommend it.

I stayed in the 3-bedroom suite, which has just 2 bathrooms. The bedroom with the ensuite has no windows, and only one bedroom has windows, making it feel a bit claustrophobic. There’s no basket on the wall, but the room did include the hat. The walls are very thin, so you hear everything from neighboring rooms, and a dog across the street barks constantly. The beds are comfortable, and the cleaning service is excellent. The in-room booklet clearly explains how to use the amenities and lists local attractions. If I stay again, I’d look for a suite with an ensuite bathroom and a window. The staff is great, and the lobby has convenient self-serve amenities.

This is a great hotel for families in a special part of Kyoto. The staff were particularly lovely and helpful. We will definitely stay again. We loved the happy hour and the Japanese calligraphy classes.

The room itself was nice and spacious. The housekeeping was poor I’d say. They have a schedule of when they do bedsheets vs. bathrooms etc. but it seemed sporadic and they don’t tidy anything ever. It was very nice they had a washer dryer combo in the unit. Pretty good value I’d say generally for a family. As far as staff and service I’d say they are almost all incompetent. With the exception of a gentleman named Seth and his colleague Daniel, everyone else had no clue what they were talking about. I asked to have a taxi in the morning waiting, the next morning the woman at the counter struggled with an iPad for 5 minutes until I finally gave up and booked an uber. I asked another woman at the front desk if I could get a stamp to mail my postcard. She told me to visit Lawson’s only to find out they don’t sell stamps so I had to talk 20 minutes to the post office. It seemed that every time I needed something or had a question I was given incorrect or incomplete information. Don’t stay here if you expect even mediocre customer service. Do stay here if you are totally self sufficient, need a lot of space, and are traveling with little ones. Overall average.

If I could give more stars I would! Front desk hosts are all so kind and helpful. Housekeeping staff were so sweet and accommodating to our changing schedule. The reception area multi-functional coffee/cocoa machine clean was a hit for our family of 6. Happy hour sake/local beer a bonus! We were in Kyoto for 6 nights and covered a lot of ground. The location was perfect and walkable to most but could also jump right on the train closeby. Extremely clean hotel city. Our favorite Mimaru so far and we've stayed at 3 during our trip :) Thank you for making our stay in Kyoto extra comfortable and amazing!

Wonderful place to stay, especially for four adults. It is roomy and clean with two full bathrooms and a washing machine. The staff is very friendly and helpful! It's only minutes to the subway station and konbinis and yet very quiet at night. Highly recommend!

We had a great stay.
The property is clean and rooms are spacious, staffs were welcoming.
We had a 2br with 2 baths, which is fantastic for our family of 4. Short walk to subway, convenient store right around the corner.
They also offer expresso in the morning and beer tasting at happy hour, we loved it so much and would definitely go back if we visit Japan again. Highly recommended!

The hotel was absolutely stunning! Service was spot on, happy hour for beer and sake was a bonus! Loved the free calligraphy session too. Perhaps next time to place families with kids on lower level as we had kids stomping up and down their room from upstairs and it was a little frustrating to hear this for the 4 nights at various times throughout the day. It compromised the zen feeling and vibe we were looking for during our stay.

This is a great place to stay in Tokyo. It’s a great location, close to the subway line and within an easy walk to Pontoccho Alley and Gion. The staff are friendly and helpful. The place is spotless and our two bedroom apartment was spacious and had everything you need and more. Highly recommend.

Great location and large rooms with plenty of amenities. The staff were super helpful. My only suggestion is the check how many beds are in your room. We had 6 people in a 2 bedroom suite, but only 4 beds, we were able to upgrade to a larger 3 bedroom suite with 6 beds, but could be a problem if they don’t have any upgrades available.

The room was excellent. They had all of the amenities a family would need. Excellent washer and dryer. Lots of room. Great showers and towel service. The happy hour every night was a nice plus and the staff had good recommendations and spoke fluent English. I would highly recommend!

This was a great place to stay. The service was impeccable. I asked somebody about the luggage delivery service and two days later when I left, they had already filled out the paperwork (I hadn't even committed to it yet). It's a small thing, but it saved me 20 minutes of figuring it out with somebody. The room was a nice 2 bed / 2 bad apartment. It was clean and nice. The free beer and sake and juices at happy hour was a plus. After long days of hiking around kyoto having a nice refreshing and free beer was awesome. The location is not convenient for any particular popular destination in the kyoto area, but it was central, so getting to most places was rather easy. Overall it was an enjoyable stay that exceeded expectations for me, my wife and two kids.

Location was ideal. We were centrally located. Able to use the subway to get all of our planned sites. They had free happy hour sake or beer. It was convenient to have laundry in our room. Staff was friendly and helpful. They also helped us tract down my son’s lost AirPods at the local tea/kimono experience

Fantastic property and staff

This is a phenomenal apartment-hotel. The apartment was clean, spacious and well appointed. Bonus, everyday there is a happy hour with complementary drinks and sake. Better, there is free proper coffee all day and into the evening.

The staff is phenomenal as well. English speaking, providing great recommendations, and making arrangements for our specific needs. They are friendly and took care of all of our luggage arrival shipping needs.

The location is a hidden gem. It's on a quiet street, next to a beautiful temple, and literally 10 yards/meters from the #5 bus, which services direct access to the shopping district. It's a 5 minute walk to a small and easy to manage subway stop, which is only 2 stops from the Kyoto rail station.

Our family absolutely loved this place and we will be back!

I booked a 2 room suite for the second leg of my Japan trip. I couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations. It was clean and so spacious! It was basically an apartment. The washing machine was easy to use, and kitchen amenities were great. The staff is courteous and helpful. It was also walking distance from Kyoto's shopping district. The beer and wine happy hour in the lobby was also a plus. Book this property if you are travelling with a family, don't want to feel cramped and need some "home-like" amenities.

The suites are very spacious, staff is courteous and helpful and there is a family feel to the place. It is only a five minute walks to the K line subway and many restaurants are within a 10-20 minute walk. Happy hour and free coffee and tea were nice benefits. We found the rooms to be very clean and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We stayed at Mimaru Suites Kyoto Shijo for four nights. The hotel is in a great location across a beautiful temple and walking distance to Nijo castle, Imperial Palace, Nishiki market, temples, shrines and old Kyoto. We walked mostly everywhere and had a great experience at the hotel with happy hour each day. Our suite was 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms which was perfect for our family of four. The room was clean and spacious with a kitchenette.

The staff was helpful and kind. They also helped us to book taxis!

Overall, we had a wonderful experience staying at Mimaru suites. We look forward to visiting again in the future and staying at Mimaru Suites! Thank you to the wonderful staff!

Love this property! We stayed for 4 nights in a 2-bedroom/2-bathroom unit with our two teenage sons. As this was the last leg of our Japan trip, having a kitchen and sofa was so great. This hotel has the best and most accommodating and friendly staff of any place we stayed in Japan. Loved the happy hour and there were many American tourists as well. I would suggest using the washing machine setting only and hanging clothes to dry, as using the combo washer/dryer either shrunk our clothes or just did not work even after a 3 hour cycle. I don't think dryers are big in Japan so I don't fault the hotel at all. My only complaint is that the beds were a bit chintzy and not super comfortable.
