Nice location

You can overlook Nara valley and some of Buddhism temples around there including pagoda of the Kohfukuji temple below from rooms and lobby of the hotel. Shining view of downtown of Nara is also beautiful at night. You will be welcomed by a tea ceremony at checking-in. Deer in the Nara park occasionally come to the garden of the hotel, and welcome you.

快適に過ごせました

高台に在り、景観が良く、夜景も綺麗でした。お部屋も綺麗で行き届いており、食事も個室で落ち着いて頂きました。ただ、残念なのは、露天風呂付のお部屋でしたが部屋付きの露天風呂が温泉でないのが気になった点です。

近場の便利な旅館です

駅には車ですぐですが、高台にあって景色がよかったです。スタッフさんはとても気持ちよく挨拶してくださいました。

食事は、夜はとてもおいしい料理がいくつかありました。焼き物は冷めて出てきたので、むしろないほうがよかったです。
朝食はあのレベルなら外で食べたほうが良いかな、という感じでした。

観光は欲張らず旅館でゆっくり

旅館なので、夕食つき、お風呂にもゆっくり入りたいので観光に夜まで目一杯時間を使う訳にはいきませんが、一日歩き回った体をゆっくり休ませることができ、まだ日も高いので東大寺の屋根を望みながらの景色も堪能しました。翌朝は荷物を近鉄奈良駅前のオフィスに預けて、手ぶらで観光ができました。

We had a fantastic stay at the Mikasa Ryokan, which we would describe more as an experience from the moment we entered the hotel, until the moment we were dropped back at the JR Station by the hotel shuttle bus.

The staff are very attentive, the food was excellent and we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We did have a problem in one of the rooms we booked and we were immediately moved to another room within minutes.

Fantastic experience and one everyone should try if planning a stop in Nara.

Amazing Ryokan

Amazing experience. The staff attend to you so well and make you feel so welcomed. We were able to leave our bags at the information center to go to the park alhands free. The provided bus to and from the train station is also a convenient touch. There is an incredible onsen on site, and the provided meal was laid out so beautifuly and had so many different new flavors and textures. Even if we didn't eat everything the experience was incredible. Highly recommend!

Luksuriøst, rolig, men allikevel sentrumsnært

Det var fantastisk å bo på Mikasa: stedet er rolig, et lite stykke i skogen utenfor Nara, med en helt fantastisk utsikt over byen. Samtidig går det en gratis shuttelbussen fra stasjonen, severdigheter, og opp til hotellet slik at det føles sentralt og alt er tilgjengelig.

Onsen er ren og rolig, med alle produkter tilgjengelig. Det fulgte også med en skikkelig digg flerretters middag og frokost. Hele oppholdet var tradisjonelt japansk, og føltes veldig luksuriøst.

This is a very special ryokan offering in that 1) it’s just inside the park gates, 2) some of the nicest Japanese traditions are honored here, 3) you can get your own open air bath that overlooks a private garden. I have no idea why others would not give this 5 stars unless they reserved the wrong type of room. Their gift shop also has wonderful things that are easy to pack to bring back for the folks at home.

Prima voor 1 of 2 nachten. Wij missen de ruimte om vrij buiten de Ryokan te wandelen. Dat is door de weg waaraan het is gelegen niet mogelijk. Wel is er een shuttle bus die op vaste tijden van en naar het centrum van Nara gaat. Verder zou ik iedereen aanraden die geen ervaring heeft met een Ryokan je te verdiepen in een dergelijk verblijf met alle gebruiken. Maaltijden heerlijk, uitgebreid en veel. Avondtour naar de top van de berg was prachtig.

The first thing I have to say is the staff was excellent. They could not have been nicer. The reason I gave it only four stars was we simply did not enjoy sleeping on the floor OR the options for breakfast. Communication was a bit lacking too, but that was partly the language barrier. Also, although we enjoyed the ryokan experience, we won't do it again. Dinner was awesome, prepared in our room, traditional Japanese fare, mainly sushi, soup, salad, etc. A LOT OF FOOD! The room was small, though, and the futons on the floor were not comfortable at all. I think we just prefer western style hotels, and that is not their fault.

This is was my first ryokan stay and also my first time both in Japan and solo traveling. I can whole heartedly say that while the staff, food, and overall room was nice - this is NOT worth the price. I spent $327.72 for ONE NIGHT at this ryokan a half board for dinner. ALSO would like to note the receipt cost, so via Expedia it was: $340.49 $77.66 in taxes (which is insane), but I used $90.43 in rewards cash I had from a large group trip I booked with friends for spring break in the past. That means that the actual cost for a SINGLE NIGHT would have been $418.15 via Expedia, which is INSANE.

I’m staying one night at a ryokan in Kobe the next night and it also has a half board and that only costs $237.11 and my checkout time is noon!

Cons: #1 con is the insane cost which does not feel justified for what is provided, I mean for three nights sure, but ONE night, no chance. #2 is that we’re at the top of a mountain where you need a shuttle via the ryokan to get to the actual ryokan entrance, you’re kind of just stuck in the ryokan the whole day - so all I could do besides go on my phone was watch the TV.

While the half board was a unique multi course meal, I still do not feel justified in the total price for a single night.

Overall, I want to note again that the staff were super nice and helpful and the food was good, BUT I cannot recommend anyone stay here unless you just have money to burn. I’m sure you can find other ryokans for a better price w/better location

A lovely restful place to relax

What a lovely stay. We had great service, delicious food, and a wonderful overall experience. It was a restful getaway to the mountains with a private onsen just for us. The patio onsen had a beautiful view of a well-cared garden and was a very nice place to pass the time.

There isn't much else to do directly at the hotel unless you take a bus or taxi into Nara, but that really forced us to let go and relax.

Overall, this place is a great option if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay. The surroundings are calm and serene. However, I did notice that the hotel facilities seemed a bit outdated. Although there were some updated amenities, I also noticed some black mold around the vents in the Rykon. The staff member who checked us in and served our private dining was exceptional.

The free bus shuttle service from Kintetsu-Nara was extremely useful. They also let us check in luggage early. This was my first time at a Onsen. My wife and I really enjoyed it! I definitely recommend having both the dinner and the breakfast, the spread is very pretty and delicious. I definitely recommend picking up a few Japanese phrases or words, but if you are patient and observe their diagrams their system and rules are pretty easy to learn. We had a room with a private bath as well, which was really enjoyable to use. All in all, it was a wonderful first experience. Be aware that the location is kind of in the mountains, so there is an element of the outdoors that you should be conscious of. They also have a bar that they host in the lobby in the evening with simple cocktails. The night view is great, it's quiet for a great honeymoon. We'd love to stay again :)

I absolutely LOVED my stay at Mikasa Ryokan. Everything from the service pre-arrival to the check out was flawless.

Upon arrival in Nara, they held onto my bags so that I could explore uninhibited. They provided a shuttle with multiple departure times to the hotel to choose. I rented a bicycle and explored Nara for a few hours. The ride from the station to hotel took less than 10 minutes, and all my bags loaded up for me. I was greeted with multiple smiles, given a welcome matcha, and was guided to choose my Yukata after 1:1 discussion planning my dinner, breakfast and next day shuttle. I was even told where Sakura Blossoms were just coming into view.

The room with open air bath was incredible. Room was large, clean and so relaxing. Had wonderful views of the skyline and peach / sakura blossoms.

Dinner was also incredible. As I stayed two nights I had different meals for both days, including breakfast. I’m usually very weird eating fish but the meal was amazing. I was guided on how to eat and in what order and tried everything once! The second dinner was beef, and eating in private room was also a beautiful experience.

The hot spring baths were clean and never cluttered or loud. There was a late night bar and vending machines for drinks for when the bar closed. I will never forget my incredible experience! Thank you to all the staff who contributed to making my visit the best it could be

Wife and I stayed one night here to get away from the busy life of Tokyo and Osaka and this was an absolute treat. The ryokan was peaceful, clean and very relaxing. The staff all greet you upon arrival and your dedicated staff member takes care of everything up until you go into your room. You are then given instructions and are able to ask any outstanding questions.

Our stay included dinner and breakfast which is a must. The course meals were absolutely amazing, and once done, we went to our rooms to use our private bath.
I cannot say enough great things about this place!

The only thing to keep in mind is that getting to the ryokan can be a bit tricky. Once you get to the Kintetsu-Nara station, the office is across the street and clearly says "Mikasa Ryokan". You go in there and ask the shuttle times, which you can go on even if you do not reserve it, though space might be tight. You can also drop off your luggage to roam around Nara, but you need to let them know when you will board the shuttle, so it will go with you to the hotel.

Be aware that the shuttle has LIMITED times it runs, but there is a taxi spot at the train station you can use if the shuttle is not in service.

Overall, we absolutely loved this ryokan and plan to make it a regular stay when in Nara!

We were really impressed by the hotel when they received us with our names on the board and immediately assigned a staff to guide us to a sitting area where drinks and snacks were served ! Check in was done very quickly and we were guided to choose yukatas before we were brought to our room. The view from the traditional tatami room is breathtaking ! We also had the choice of dining in room or at the restaurant. We enjoyed our stay there and the shuttle service made staying in the mountains a breeze. We will stay again if we revisit Nara !

It’s a nice property with a beautiful view of the city. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. My husband and I stayed at the maisonette room and it’s beautiful and relaxing it’s good for a family or big group. The food they served us are delicious. I highly recommend! But be sure to have a vehicle or taxi to get there. We tried to walk to the property from the bus stop and it’s quite a hike but the men at the check point helped us and called the property to pick us up.

Great traditional Japanese experience

Pretty much everything about this place was great. The staff were welcoming and very helpful (and did well with speaking English). The room itself was brilliant and was everything you could hope for from a tatami mat ryokan room. I'd definitely recommend the private hot spring room! Yukata are supplied too to give the full traditional experience.

Location was perfect and was easily accessible due to the free shuttle bus they offer from Kintetsu-Nara station. The shuttle bus also took us straight to Nara Park the following day which was very helpful

Rare chance to experience Ryokan in Nara City

Had a very comfortable and relaxing stay with Mikasa Ryokan. Right after we arrived to Kintetsu Nara, we went straight to the tourist center operated by Mikasa group? and we could store our luggage there which they delivered to the hotel directly without any charge. It does have hill top view where can oversee Nara city, with the tall tower of Todaiji temple. We chose a stay plan comes with two meals at the private room, the menu was very filling and Okami served it with very kind manner. Well, the taste was not the best compared to other Kaiseki outside but it was great enough considering the price we paid. We had several hotspring bath to use, one in our own room and two for shared. Either one was amazingly good as it also had outdoor view (open air style) where we could cool off our head from fatigue. Hotel itself was a bit old since it has certain history, but maintained pretty nice. Of course all staffs were very helpful and kind and Ms. Lee who took a tour of hotel for us was very fluent in English too.

有點失望的住宿

小型的溫泉旅館，房間跟設施有點老舊需要翻新，餐飲品質有點失望，晚餐選擇伊賀牛會席但牛肉蠻普通的，沒有和牛的口感， 應該是等級不夠的關係。大眾湯較小且露天風呂部分沒有任何view。整體來說有點失望。亮點是大廳觀看奈良市的日景跟夜景都蠻美麗。

Fantastic hotel, great staff!

We were picked up by the hotel shuttle bus from the train station. On arrival at the hotel, we were welcomed by a lot of staff and got a welcome drink in the lounge with a stunning view over the city.
We were then invited for a after dinner trip to the top of the mountain which was again a stunning view over the city.
The dinnner and breakfast were typical Japanese style and very tasty.
The rooms are big and had reasonable size bathrooms. There’s also a big public bath.
They make the beds when you go down for dinner.
The staff is really friendly and it felt very welcoming.
Every morning there’s a few options for the shuttle bus to take you to several points in the city. In the afternoon they will pick you up again and all for free.

It was nice, but it definitely was not worth the amount of money I paid for a room ($356.00). I had a room with a "panoramic view" and dinner in my room. When I arrived, I was encouraged to have dinner in a private dining room instead of having it served in my room, even though I had paid extra for the in-room experience. Also, the woman who served dinner was lovely, but she was from China, so it definitely was not an authentic Ryokan experience. It was a more like a Disneyland experience: a hotel pretending to be the authentic thing.

旅館位於半山，環境一流，十分舒適，服務人員由一下車，已非常貼心的出來迎接及幫忙搬行李，非常貼心，一泊二食，無論食物質素及精緻度都色香味俱全，房間是附露天風呂的那種，還有一個小小花園，無論大浴場或房內露天風呂，都十分乾淨及環境十分舒適舒服，如果是想放鬆身心，這間旅館確是不二之選。

Relaxing & Efficient Check in

We arrived in Nara. Left our bags at the hotel office so we could explore Nara. Our bags were taken to the hotel and put in our room. We were taken to the hotel in their bus later. We were given local refreshments upon arrival and checked in straight away. Fantastic. All staff were exceptionally polite.

Byłam w podróży z siostrą, zależało mi na tym aby wszystko było w dobrym standardzie, powitanie w Ryokanie było bardzo dobre, nasza opiekunka powitała nas herbatą, udzieliła informacji o miejscu. Okazało się jednak, że nie były to pełne informacje, już po wyjeździe korzystając ze strony internetowej ryokanu, dowiedziałam się, że było więcej możliwości jak choćby masaż, czy kawa w określonych godzinach. Miałam zamówiony pokój w widokiem panoramicznym, podobno jedyny w hotelu, otrzymałam jeden z sześciu pokoi z podobnym widokiem. Z opinii z innej strony dowiedziałam się, że podobne sytuacje zdarzały się już zagranicznym turystom, pytanie czy jest to problem z tłumaczeniem informacji? Wydaje się jednak, że rzeczywiście taki pokój tam jest (strona japońska Ryokanu). Posiłki były bardzo smaczne i obfite.
Pokój przestronny z ładnym widokiem. Bardzo czysto, kosmetyki do codziennej pielęgnacji wysokiej klasy.
Jeden raz zdarzyło się, że nie przygotowano nam futonów, nie było też prześcieradeł, użyłyśmy poszew na kołdry. Wyglądało to trochę tak jakby ktoś o nas zapomniał.
Ryokan jest położony przy drodze, brak jest miejsca do spacerów, jednak oferowany jest bezpłatny transport do miejscowych atrakcji turystycznych.

Merveilleux repas traditionnels japonais

Très agréable ryokan perche sur les hauteurs de Nara. La chambre est typique, avec tatamis sur le sol, petit coin lecture et une superbe vue sur les cerisiers en fleurs à flanc de montagne, avec Nara en contrebas. L'hôtel est isolé ce qui rajoute au côté romantique mais qui empêche toute ballade à pied. Les repas traditionnels japonais sont servis soit en chambre soit dans de petites salles à manger, et sont absolument exquis et merveilleusement raffinés, le meilleur souvenir de cet endroit.

Authentic Japanese Experience.

What a wonderful Hotel. The staff was superb. The amenities were great and the food was fabulous. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an authentic Japanese experience. Our stay in Nara was the highlight of our 10 day visit to Japan.

餐點十分美味，服務也很貼心，雖然離市區較遠的小山坡上，但飯店接駁車很方便，在近鐵奈良車站前還有接待處可以寄放行李。設施亦十分完善，房間的私人小庭園還種了棵楓樹造景，感覺很好。

奈良公園山上的酒店

唯一間晚間可以在山上欣賞奈良公園的旅館。
早上可以在大彿池遊園，然後才回近鐡的資訊中心取回行李。
注意是不可以步行去奈良公園。

Nice hotel with Japanese style

Food is nice. Beautiful view. Convenient shuttle bus service
Staff are polite and there is a Hong Kong staff so we can communicate in Cantonese.

Nice experience

First time had a Japanese experience in a royokon. Was a pleasant experience.
Shuttle was only transportation.
Staff very accommodating.
No English tv.
Being vegetarian challenging but they tried best to accommodate.

尝试日式传统旅馆的一泊二食，感觉并不如预期。晚餐早餐看似丰盛，但并不合口味。房间带不大的温泉池，水实在太烫，没敢多泡。酒店的结构有点像迷宫，要穿过餐饮区才能到我们的房间，也因此房间的玄关区总是弥漫着一股油烟味。服务还算贴心，出了近铁站有服务点，寄存了行李会提早送到房间，接待的员工还细致地帮助预约了第二天的机场大巴。但退房时，自己推着重重的行李，还要走楼梯，蛮累的。酒店的位置在半山腰，酒店本身也没有什么园林，所以晚上真是很无聊，第二天早上也很想提早下山。如果下次再来，宁可预定山下离奈良公园近的酒店。
