良かった点:
・3種類の温泉。露天風呂。露天+内風呂。内風呂+簡易サウナ。すべて貸切。夜と朝50分ずつ確約だが空いていればスタッフが案内してくれる。結局家族で3種すべて一緒に入れた。泉質がとても良くすぐにお肌がもちもちスベスベになった。おもちゃもあり子供も飽きずに入れた。
・夕食の牛肉。柔らかくボリューミー。
・朝食。9品の小鉢。ご飯にお味噌汁。焼鮭。

イマイチな点:
・夕食。牛肉に予算を振っているのか他は微妙。所謂お造りではなくスーパーのお刺身レベル。牡蠣のホワイトソースチーズ焼きはがっかりするくらい身が小ぶり。茶碗蒸しは出汁が効いてない。おそらく日本料理に精通していない料理人なのだと思う。朝食は味がちゃんとしていたので外部から仕入れているのでは。

まとめると温泉◎で料理は△。子供たちが楽しんでたので良し。小さいうちは良いけど大きくなってからはリピートは難しいかも？料理さえ美味しくなる事を願ってます！

大人男女3人で家族で温泉を楽しみに行きましたが貸し切りで時間が決められているため何度も入ることが出来ない上に男女３人だと混浴も出来ないため不便だった。３タイプのお風呂があるので「男」「女」「貸切」にすれば良いのに。サウナは予約時間に電源を入れるため最後まで温まらず炎天下の外にいる方がよほど汗をかく。全く意味のないサウナだった。

お風呂は大きく3つにわかれていて、夜、朝、好きなお風呂に予約して入る感じです。予約枠は50分でした。貸切状態になり、周りを気にせず入れてよかったです。
室内は蛍光灯が切れかかったりしていたので、その点は残念でした。
館内は静かでしたので、その点は良かったです。

従業員の方の対応も良く、料理も美味しかったです。犬を連れて行ったのですが、愛犬もとても落ち着いてくつろげていたようです。
不満な点を挙げるとすれば、冷たいビールなどはこちらで購入できますが、当日は寒かったので、暖かい物が飲みたかったのですが、部屋に置いてあるお茶もコーヒーも粉の物が2本ずつで、言えばもらえたのかも知れませんが、あまり美味しいお茶でもないので、ティーパックなど持って行けば良かったと思いました。
食事の時にもお湯割りのお酒が飲みたかったのですが、そういった物もありませんでした。
日本人の宿泊者は私たちだけで、ほぼ外国人向けの施設のような感じになっていたので、仕方ないのかも知れません。
でも犬を連れて泊まれる旅館ですし、お茶など用意して行けば快適に過ごせます。
朝ごはんも美味しかったです。泉質も良く、お肌もツルツルになりました。
また機会があれば泊まりたいです。

ペット可ということでペット同伴でした、ペット同伴の他のお客さんもいましたが、トラブル一つなく快適でした。お部屋もとても綺麗でした。床がピカピカ、畳も防水畳なのかな？キレイに拭き掃除してある感じでした。ひとつだけ、ベットの棚にホコリがあり、ここ忘れてるのかな？という感じでした。お料理も大変美味しく大人向けでした。お風呂も少しぬるめですが良かったです。

しかし、うちの犬は良く吠えてしまい館内中に響いていました。部屋を防音壁だとうれしいです。

宿泊費を既にカードで支払っていたのにも関わらず現地で現金で支払うよう言われた。カード払いで済んでいると伝えると、あれはカードＮｏ．を登録しただけと言われ、そうかと現金で払おうとしたが、デビットカード払いだったので支払メールが来ていた事を思い出し、それを見せるとあっさり分かりましたと。しかもカード払いした金額より現金で払えと言われた金額で6000円も安かった。
犬も泊まれる施設だが、ペットに関するグッズは何も置いていない。一応全部用意をしていったから良かったが、それで3,500円もとるのはどうかと思う。
温泉目当てで行くのなら良いかもしれないが、いつも自由に入れる訳ではなく1組につき夜と朝1時間ずつしか入れない。朝が10時しか空いていなかったのでそれでは遅くて諦めた。
自由に温泉に入れない温泉宿…二度と行かない。

従業員の対応は良かったが、最初に案内された部屋は、埃が多く、エアコンが壊れていた。日中に電話連絡が取れなかったので、急なリクエストができなかった。その部分は改善を求めたい。多分、従業員の数が少ないのだと思う。

お風呂が貸切の1つのみ

部屋にお風呂はなく大浴場もない。
6部屋あるが貸切しのお風呂はあるが1つだけなので、1時間毎の予約制で早く入ると夜に入らない。(その逆もしかり)
夜は基本1枠しか取れない、朝は5枠なので場合によっては入らない宿泊者もいる。

宿泊先を探している際にネットで見てた印象よりだいぶキレイでとても安心しました。
お布団もふかふかだったし、最低限アメニティもそろっていて、ステキな旅館でした。
私が行った時は受付のスタッフさんがふたりいて、ふたりとも外国人のかたでした。カタコト感が強みでした。
お話をきいたら中国のかたと台湾のかたでした。
対応は丁寧でお辞儀でお出迎えして頂いたり扉を開けて待っていてくれたり好感もてました。

Awful Disgusting Ryokan

My family and I had an utterly deplorable experience at this ryokan in Hakone, which was so appalling that we couldn’t bear to stay the night. Despite its exorbitant pricing, comparable to a 5-star hotel, the conditions were shockingly substandard and outright disgusting.

The onsens, which should be a highlight, were filthy, with hair, bugs, and debris floating in them. They were not cleaned between uses and emitted a revolting smell of rotting organic matter. The room was equally unacceptable—grimy, with a pervasive mildew odor that made it unbearable. Even the windows were so dirty we couldn’t see out of them, further adding to the sense of neglect.

This ryokan’s cleanliness and maintenance are nonexistent, and it’s an outrage that they charge premium rates for such a deplorable experience. We left immediately and spent the same amount to stay at a proper 5-star hotel, which was a night-and-day difference. Even though we couldn’t get a refund, it was worth every penny to escape this place. Avoid this ryokan at all costs—there are far better options in Hakone that actually care about their guests’ experience.

Traditional Japanese onsen. The only issue iir is in the middle of nowhere and impossible to get any kind of cab or uber in the morning to go to your next destination. Everything at the hotel was great. Service is great. People are extremely kind and helpful, lovely staff!

Must stay in Hakone for a Japanese experience

Beautiful onsen, very hiddrn and quiet. Seems like an authentic Japan experience for foreign travelers. Wonderful private hot spring baths. Choice of western or Japanese slerping arrangements. Ie. Beds or futon mats on real tatami floors. The dinner and breakfast alone are worth the stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Especially when navigating cultural differences.

This was our luxury stay in Japan. We absolutely loved the traditional ryokan and the private onsen was just dreamy. We had the option to book an hour every morning and evening—we just booked in the evening because in the morning we are usually ready to get our day started (and I think the bookings started maybe at 8am?). We loved the little walk down the hill to the train station—it was a pretty walk. While in Halone, Gora Park is a MUST—it is so beautiful and there is so much to see. I’d also recommend the Hakone Free Pass, which covered all of our transportation, the visit to Gora Park, and lots more! We’d definitely stay here again!

Google maps made this place very hard to find. It’s way up a steep hill and not an easy walk so don’t plan on walking there. It’s a very difficult 20 min walk. Call a cab. Breakfast is not that great and is kind of expensive. Hot mineral springs are nice and are booked by the hour for each room so they are private. Staff is very nice.

A wonderful traditional ryokan. Clean, with private onsens you can use twice per day (or more). Very friendly staff. Highly recommend! Tip: take a taxi from the train station, it is a 15 min walk but very uphill. Also, for fine dining you can walk 10 minutes to the Hyatt that has two nice restaurants incl. sushi.

Nice but not worth the price

We enjoyed our stay at Ajisai. The rooms and futon were comfortable and staff was nice and accommodating, but for the price I have stayed at far better Ryokan. The images online made the rooms seem bigger and as if we would have our own baths attached to our room. Which is my own fault for not reaching out to clarify. But, personally, I would not have paid the ammount we did if I'd known it was only two tattami rooms and a toilet. Also, my companians were dissapointed in the way that the staff handled a large spider entering our room, as it made the room very difficult to be in, but we sincerely hope that the older man who sprayed an entire raid can into our room is okay as we could hear him coughing from upstairs. Speaking of which, the floors are very thin so if you have the downstairs room you can hear everyone walking in the hall and in their rooms upstairs.

Vraiment un super endroit ! Les hôtes sont extrêmement gentils et très serviables. Ils nous ont même permis de profiter deux fois du onsen privé, car nous avions demandé à être prévenus si une place se libérait. L’endroit regorge de touches traditionnelles japonaises : thé à la fleur, bonbons locaux…

Seul bémol : l’absence d’un égouttoir extérieur. En cas de pluie, l’eau tombant du toit donne l’impression d’une cascade juste à côté de la chambre, ce qui peut être gênant pour les personnes au sommeil léger.

Love the experience!

Wonderful! Best meal of our trip and relaxing private onsens. Comfortable beds and strong wifi. We would definitely return. Ajisai is a ryokan or traditional Japanese inn tatami-matted rooms, futons and private onsens or natural hot springs. Upon making a reservation, the hotel sent us a detailed email with directions and advice. The managers/owners are lovely and very helpful. When you arrive, you can feel the peaceful atmosphere. Our family studio had a queen and a twin bed raised with 2 extra futons in the closet. The rooms are spacious with a private bathroom but no showers –reserve an onsen which include showers. Buy the “half board” which includes kaiseki or a multi-course dinner and your choice of Japanese or Western breakfast. The dinner was an entire experience – just as you finish a course, another one is served. Our favorite course was the cook your own beef on your own mini cooking device – it was both fun and delicious. There were 3 choices of private onsens: indoor and outdoor, indoor with sauna, or outdoor. They were a very relaxing and rejuvenating experience. You will love the serenity and overall experience of Ajisai Onsen Ryokan!

Amazing! I loved the private booking of the three different onsens. Very family friendly. Front desk host was super helpful, spoke sufficient English, was very kind and thorough. The best part of this stay was by far the onsens - there are 3 to choose from and you can reserve 2 at night and 1 in the morning. It was chilly but we loved the hot soaks morning and night. Be sure to reserve early because only one group of guests is allowed at a time. The room is very traditional with floor sleeping arrangements but still clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but nice. This hotel is a bit of a hike from the main train station - we got in at night and there were no taxis available so we made the cold and rainy walk 20 minutes uphill to the hotel.

Peaceful bliss! Right up in the forest-laden mountains of Hakone, this traditionally modern ryokan should tick every mark you need for relaxation: simple, quiet, and surrounded by nature.

The mineralized onsens feel fantastic... so much so, I was melting straight into myself! All the tension from long walks in Tokyo, gone in a sultry soak. You get to pick two bath times too -- one in the evening, one in the morning -- in one of three baths (one indoor, one outdoor, and one I forget).

You also pick a time for breakfast, and which breakfast too: an American-style eggs and waffles and sausage (and some other bobbles), or a more traditional Japanese-style bento with cooked salmon, rice, miso, and nine assorted sides. I opted for the latter, and it was *very* tasty & filling!

Combined with the very kind staff (who can speak English, if you need), made in all for a phenomenal and much-needed getaway from the hustle and bustle of city streets and crowded alleyways.

First ryokan and it will not be last

Our first ryokan experience and it was amazing. This place is a little remote and it was snowing and raining when we arrived so we decided to stay in and enjoy the relaxing 2 days here. The Japanese breakfast is awesome. If you want to try their dinner, make sure to email and order at least 2 days in advanced, it costs 8800 yen per person but it totally worth every penny. This is all private onsen meaning that you get the whole area for your group. Need to make reservations for onsen as well and we can have 2 onsen per day, each time lasts 50 minutes. The hot springs water is hot so we enjoy the outdoor onsen a lot more even it was snowing. Wish we live nearby so we can enjoy this more often. The staff are super nice and helpful.

Staff and place were great. Outdoor onsens were perfect (even with freezing cold rain!) and dinner presentation was beautiful and lots of food. Definitely a good hike uphill if you walknit but we managed. Only gave 4 stars because the mats in our room did not feel like any cushion at all under us when sleeping. Enjoyed our stay even so and highly recommend!

What an incredible gem! We had a wonderful and memorable experience. Luggage drop off before check-in and then check-in itself was seamless (we arrived early and we just followed the instructions at the front entrance to label our bags and place inside the doors, and when we came back the bags were already in our room). Staff is very friendly and helpful. We were able to select our onsen times (one evening and one morning bath) at check-in and as they had availability, we were lucky and were able to do a third one! The facilities themselves are great! All the onsens were fantastic, and it's nice they are all private. Highly recommend the traditional dinner option, it was delicious, well worth it, and a highlight of our trip. The breakfast was lovely. Definitely our favourite stay and would love to come back again!
P.s- if getting off at Gora station, yep that is one steep hill to climb to the ryokan! We had carry-on size backpacks and I'm still happy we took the cable car two stops further as per the instructions we received from the ryokan even though it was busy and a bit of a wait (or with more luggage the taxi is likely we'll worth it. It's really not that far, 15ish min, but quite the hill!). The ryokan was also very prompt in responding to my messages prior to arrival, and that was much appreciated. This is a small, charming onsen hotel with three separate bathing areas. Don’t expect it to be very modern, but the staff are truly exceptional and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. Short walk to the cable car stop and easy access to Gora trains. I wish I’d stayed longer.

The property is very traditional. The onsens themselves are very nice, especially the outside ones. The two indoor ones are alright, depending on who is using the one next to you, it can be loud (ie children playing loudly next door).

Excellent onsen ryokan at a very competitive price. You to select three 50 minute sessions in one of the three on-site onsens per day (one in the morning, two in then evening). The staff were friendly and accommodating. It's a bit of a hike uphill from the station but nothing someone moderately fit can't handle.

I like the traditional feeling of the inn. The room had lots of space and the staff was super friendly and spoke english. Two point i found negative was the fact that to be able to shower you have to reserve a slot in the osen and also you will have to walk uphill from the train station.

This is my third stay at Ajisai Onsen Ryokan, and my first with my family. I really enjoy coming here for the spacious and comfy room, relaxing private onsen, tasty traditional dinner and breakfast, and kind staff. SO PEACEFUL. My family and I especially liked the hot springs. The hot springs were very relaxing, you need to book a time slot for it and then choose a yakata to wear there (it's all free!). You are free to choose from three options: Outside hotspring, indoor hotspring (includes sauna), or both. Everywhere was so clean and the food tasted perfect! 10/10. I would recommend it.

Wonderful hospitality!

Unparalleled hospitality at this small onsen ryokan. The staff was beyond helpful in preparing for our trip, with thorough explanation regarding arrival and excellent communication. They were super flexible about holding bags before check in and after check out while we explored. The inn is a little tucked away from main restaurants and shops but taxi was easy and cheap and we could walk to the really delightful gora garden and craft house.

They prepared a delicious multi course dinner accommodating a food allergy to gluten, a vegetarian, and teen dietary preferences and an interesting and generous traditional breakfast for our family. The dinner was the best meal we had in two weeks in Japan!

The onsen facilities were so clean and it was a delightful experience. It was easy to sign up for private time for our group in both the evening and morning in both the indoor and outdoor onsen.

Beds were really comfortable (best in our two weeks!) with nice in room amenities including flower tea.

This was one of the best stays I've had recently. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make our experience great. We ordered room service and it arrived with a smile and a special treat.
The traditional rooms were very clean and were lovely.
The hot springs Onsen were great. We had 2 reserved times for our room and enjoyed a private indoor/outdoor experience.

Poor condition in every aspect

Food was sub-par, then served the same breakfast the 3 days we were there. Dinner was similar situation. Room was very dirty and tiny for 5 of us. Only saving grace was the onsen. Even so, not worth the $1000/night price tag.

Loved our time here. After a night in busy Tokyo, felt rejuvenated by the hot bath, friendly staff, and relaxing atmosphere. First time to Japan for my wife and 3 young kids, the Hakone area and Ryoken plus Onsen experience was a great adventure.

Dining options were a bit limited, also a bit far from the shops and supermarkets. Other than that, was good and comfortable

Great ryokan experience. Private onsen is perfect. Meals are delicious. Definitely highlight of our japan trip.

Overpriced ryokan. Food is so so. Hot bath inside and outside are nice but when we were there, there was a group of young men in the next room they were loud.

酒店雖然歷史久遠，但環境很好，非常乾淨，他在一個較長的斜坡上面，步行的話可能會比較艱難，開車的話會經過一個比較斜的斜路，但工作人員英文很好，溝通非常流暢，而且還會線上預先聯繫給你預約私湯，私湯有3間，一間室外，一間室內，還有一間是比較大的是室外連室內，酒店內可以購買零食及杯麵，也有送餐服務

This Ryokan is hard to find and dedicated parking was very unclear. You are then faced with very uneven stone steps which made getting suitcases into the property tricky and a bit hazardous.

The Ryokan is quite dated and not that well maintained. Word of warning - there is no shower in your room. Showers have to be booked along with access to the Onsen.

On a positive note, the outdoor Onsen is very nice and had nice temperature. The indoor ones however are not so good.

This property was beautiful and the onsens were amazing. We loved that the baths were private so that our children could use them as well. We had dinner at the property and it was delicious and quite a treat. Anyone planning to stay should know that this property is not very walkable. It is not only further away than other properties, it is on a hillside. We utilized taxis a great deal. This property was also not clean. There was mold growing on the walls and bugs (mosquitos?) smashed into the walls.
