ペンション？

予約時の写真とは全く違う狭い部屋。写真が広いから選んだのに。布団はなかなか無い煎餅布団で朝には腰が痛かった。階段上がってすぐの部屋ということもありパタパタと足音がよく響いた。畳もペタペタさて素足では気持ち悪かった。有料の露天風呂は外になんとか作った手作り感満載のお風呂。露天どころか木々の間から少し空が見えるだけ。英語の説明が随所にあったので外人には親切？やたらと外人ばかりで。素泊まりとはいえこな値段でこのクオリティは久し振りに残念なお宿でした。

ローケーションは最高。

せまいトイレ

坂の上にある旅館でした。建物は古いですが、清潔にされていらっしゃいます。外国のお客様が多い旅館でした。フロントは人がいないことが多く皆さん忙しそうにされていらっしゃいましたが、呼び鈴を押すと、笑顔で丁寧に対応されます。お部屋ですが、私達の宿泊したお部屋は1階の角部屋でした。部屋の入り口からせまく、納戸？と思わせるような入り口でした。トイレは洋式のきれいなウオシュレットなのですが、大変せまかったです。朝食は美味しくいただきました。

コスパを考慮すれば満足

桧風呂付きの部屋ということで大変楽しみにしていたのですが、浴槽、風呂場とも大変狭く、入る気になりませんでした。その代わり、貸切露天風呂と朝晩男女入れ替え制の大浴場を利用し、どちらも清潔感があり、良かったです。ただ、ウェブサイトに風呂利用時には雪見酒の用意が有る旨の記載が有りましたが、スタッフに伺ったら、夏季は気温の関係で、そのサービスはないとの事でガッカリしました。事情は理解しますが、その旨、ウェブサイトにもきちんと明記するべきなのでは？
その説明をして頂いた方、他数名のスタッフの方の素っ気無い態度が少しだけ気になりました。
朝食も十分。コスパを含めた全体的感想としては満足です。
古都高山にある純和風旅館、価格的にも外国人宿泊者が多いのもうなずけます。

Worth a stay if you are in Takayama

The room we had was really good! Love the traditional Japanese home vibe it has. And also as we checked in late at about 9pm, the place was handled by this elderly who could not really speak English, but check-in was still very smooth! And he is very nice and friendly too!

Breakfast was also authentic japanese dishes(not buffet) and was different for each day during our 2 nights there.

Everything was impressive for this accomodation, and it has free shuttle bus to the town which was really useful! Reason being the hotel is situated at a hilltop, so going up and down could take some work!

Food was some of the best our whole trip.

Nice Ryokan in Takayama.

Our first stay in a ryokan. It was very comfortable. The breakfast was primarily Japanese, although they had toast and coffee. It was outstanding. It was a very nice place although a little hard to get to by foot from the train station. The tourist office told us there it was 20 minutes by foot but I was longer and uphill a lot. There is a shuttle from the ryokan to the train station. Maybe it goes the otter way too?

Excellent value ryokan

Amazing location, service, and value. Food was fantastic, same with the views. Onsen was excellent. I suggest to have dinner as well. Easy access to historic areas, yet quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended.

Silent hotel at the top of Takayama

The hotel is in traditional Japanese style with tatami, if you prefer stick to Western style, please avoid it. The hotel staff is polite and friendly, their servic is good. The room is well decorated and it is big, we have much space to move and we enjoy the tatami and cypress bath so much. The hotel is also located at the top of the Takayama, we love the nice view and the silent environment. It is not closed to the attractions but just need 20 min walk, still acceptable. We love the hotel so much and we definitely will come back.
Appreciate the staff!

높은 곳에 위치하여 다카야마시의 경치가 좋으며
밤에는 야경이 정말 좋습니다.
온천은 락스냄새가 나는거 같은데 원래 그런 냄새가 나는건지 락스로 청소한건지 물어보지는 않았습니다.
사용하지는 않았지만 방에 히노키탕이 있어서 12시넘어서는 온천을 이용할수 없으나 탕에 들어가기 좋을것 같습니다.

Séjour mitigé

Les murs sont mince et on entend les discutions à travers les chambres.
Pas de service de lavages des habits. C’est vieux et pas entretenu.

La climatisation peu efficace avec une température de 34º à l’extérieur...
Le service n’est pas fantastique par rapport au prix très important de la chambre.

Nous voulions un massage, la réception nous dit que c’est pas possible parce que le centre de massage ne répond pas.... ça laisse dubitatif.

Les points positifs, est la baignoire en chambre. Le Onsen libre d'accès, un Onsen privatif à l’extérieur. Et nous avons été amenés gratuitement en voiture à la gare.

Même la situation excentrée rend l’endroit pas très agréable pour la marche.

Vraiment nous avons eu des bien meilleurs endroit au Japon et pour un montant de chambre nettement inférieur.

Worthwhile stay for a night or two

Great views from terrace. Had inroom osen. Condtion of building, a bit tired. Shuttle service very good. Daily newspapers a plus. Hot water tea in room. Next to castle park. 15 minute walk uphill from town. View from our room was from the onsen, not the room itself. Spacious rooms and entry way but no external windows, in our room. Wifi was good.

Nice stay overall

The hotel gave us an authentic Japanese experience, sleeping on futons and having to wear suitable shoes when walking indoors. The view was lovely and staff were pleasant. The hotel is nearby the centre where there are a few restaurants too. Hotel was a little dated but clean.

Leider etwas verlebt und in die Jahre gekommen

Die Zimmer (wir hatten eines mit eigenem Bad) haben alles, was man braucht. Die Tatami Matten und das Mobiliar sind nur schon sehr abgenutzt. Das Bad war vollständig mit Holz verkleidet. Von der Idee her prinzipiell sehr nett, doch wies das Holz schon überall Schinmel in Form von schwarzen Punkten auf. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich, es kann jedoch nicht jeder Englisch. Frühstück gibt es nur bis 8 Uhr und ausschließlich "japanese style". Ist aber sehr lecker. Man hat zudem die Möglichkeit, einen privaten Onsen für sich oder eine Gruppe für 40 Minuten zu mieten. Einen großen Onsen für alle Hotelgäste gibt es ebenfalls. Der gratis Shuttlebus zum Bahnhof ist ebenfalls sehr praktisch. Vom Zimmer aus, aber auch schon von der Terrasse vorm Hotel, hat man einen fantastischen Blick über Takayama.

This was our only experience at a ryokan while in Japan. It was like a small spa resort. We did the half-board, but we were disappointed that both meals were served in the common dining room, even though our room had a Japanese-style dining table. We asked about eating dinner in our room, but the staff downplayed it. Other than that, both meals were exceptionally large, with many, many dishes. We also took advantage of both the public and private baths. The public baths had great views of the city and were exceptional, while the private bath was just okay. The room itself was large and clean. I did fine sleeping on the futon; my husband did not. Overall, it was a good experience, just not 100% what I was expecting/hoping for.

avoid this place

The maintenance level is very poor. The room was so dirty and smelly that we avoided using parts of it including the shower. The service was also poor as the location is far from the train station and even though the place has its own shuttle bus, they will only pick you up from the train station between 3-6pm. any other time, walk up hill for 20 min with all of your lagguage. this was our most expensive night in Japan and the lowest quality place we have stayed. it felt like the last time they had and renovation done was 30 years ago. The belcony from smelled so bad from mold, we just kept that for closed. The staff was hard to communicate in English with. it felt like they don't really care at all about us as their guests. we paid a Ryoken premium but felt like we got a very cheap motel room.
we didn't get dinner though we did get breakfast. I would rate breakfast as average+
We've been to other Ryokans and know what it's all about. this place was far below other experiences.

Great classy Ryokan

I had a great one night stay there. Wonderful Japanese bath facility and breakfast. Room had a balcony with view to city. If you want to feel tradition and stay in a Japanese style for an affordable price, surrounded by a nice landscape, this could be your option.

This is the second time we stayed at Hakuun. The first experience was better and more personal. The yukatas didn't quite fit this round and they didn't have the proper sizes. Cleanliness is also down from the first round and the mats were a little sticky. The day shift staff were better than the night shift staff. Was a little disappointed. Food was ok. Compared to other half board meals was ok. Did get beef though. Dinner was served in the room. Breakfast in the dining hall.

Very nice hotel up on a hill

Loved my stay at this hotel. Japanese style living up on a hill. About 5 minute walk from Red Bridge and 10 minutes from the Old Government Building and the Morning Market. Down the hill from the Castle Ruins (I recommend doing the ruins first thing in the morning!). They offered Japanese-style dinner and breakfast; for dinner, you need to let the front desk know before 5pm that day.

The room was a very good size and the food was great as well. Loved the view from the porch as it overlooks the entire city. They have a shuttle service to and from the station (To the station is only offered from 7:30am to 10:00am at 30-minute intervals); you need to book with front desk the night before. I didn't use the shuttle from the station as you need to let them know in advance and I only had a data SIM, but a cab cost me around 800 yen.

The night staff usually only speak Japanese, so prepare to have Google Translate out.

从高山站打的士过来只需要起步价，旅馆在城山公园这块的坡道上，所以可以从房间的窗户看到高山全景，出门下坡走一会就是全家的便利店，旅馆内温泉有室内也有室外的，感觉非常值，check out后也可以坐旅馆的车去高山站，虽然没有高山市中心那边的旅馆出门闲逛方便但是周围非常安静，玩累了在旅馆看风景喝茶也不错，如果下次来高山，还会考虑这家旅馆

Excellent means of travelling back into time.

Kaiseke, tatami, view, expanse of the rooms, old world charm. Just loved the ambience of traditional Japan. No Porter to carry out bags or fancy reception. The staff multitasking their roles make it a festive veer from normal hotels. I'd definitely stay here again. It's just 10 mins walk to the attraction of the olday Town. And it's altitude affords a panoramic view of almost the entire Town.

Great ryokan experience!

Best stay I had in Japan. Really nice and clean ryokan. In the morning we had a lovely traditional breakfast. Also the onsen I really like, while bathing you can enjoy a great view over Takayama. Would definitely recommend to others!

Japanese Countryside?

This homey Japanese style hotel was very welcoming and friendly. One can really feel at home here and relax here. Excellent tubs and public bath and a savoury cedar scent permeates the place. I highly recommend the Japanese breakfast. It was excellent. I regret not having the dinner. This place has a genuine mom and pop feel.

A Japanese Ryokan above the city with a good price

This is a nice Japanese Ryokan above Takayama. If you would like to experience a traditional Ryokan this would be an option. About a 25 minute walk from the train station up the hill. A view of the city. Everything would be very nice with this Ryokan if they would discontinue smoking being allowed on the property since your room is permeated with the smell of cigarette smoke. The rooms could use updating by paint and over all attention to detail to bring by the charm this Ryokan needs to make it great. The place is very accommodating to your needs. I can't fault them for that.
Takayama is one of many of the nice options to see while in Japan.

일단 숙소가 언덕에 있어 엄청 땀을 흘리며 찾아 갔는데 방도 좋고 대욕장에서 온천 즐길 수 있어 그동안 피로를 다 풀수있었네요. 다다미방이고 방안에 히노끼 욕조가 있어 나무향이 너무 좋습니다. 방마다 테라스가 있고요, 오전에 역으로 가는 셔틀 버스도 운행하고 있습니다. 단점은 숙소 가려면 언덕을 올라야하는것하고 편의점등 편의 시설이 주변에 없다는거..

Nice Staff and Nice Environment

The hotel was on the hill, we took a taxi on the day we arrived as it was a little bit difficult to go up the hill with our luggage.
The staff were very nice. There was no lift in the hotel and he helped us to carry the luggage upstairs. Both public bathrooms were good with beautiful view. And there is a public area which you can enjoy the view, too.
There were shuttle bus to the bus centre every half hour from 8am to 10am. If you go back to the hotel, you can either take a taxi or by walk, the walking distance is acceptable.
The room is clean and in Japanese style. Overall, we enjoyed staying there very much.

Not all rooms created equal

Hotel is very nice, with great deep soak baths in room. The most disappointing thing was that while all rooms are priced the same they are not created equal. Our room was in the back corner of the property overlooking the Onsen water heater/treatment and several air conditioners which can be loud at night. And this room costed the same as the beautiful rooms at the front of the hotel sitting on the hill side over looking Takayama. Maybe you can specify which room you want when you book, but I felt the back rooms should really be cheaper.

房間太小，放完3張床後連去洗手間的通道也沒有。要自己把床重新放置才有一條窄的通道。另外大門口名字也不一樣過了也不知道。如果駕車需要經過一條小路才可以到達。

다카야마의 이 료칸은 좋은 휴식처이다..

익스피디아에 올려 놓은 이료칸 사진은 수정되어야 할만큼 좋은 곳이다.
친절하고 조용하고 찾기에도 쉬운곳이 었고 동양인보다 서양인 투숙객이 많았다.
우리가족은 3인이었는데. 료칸의 룸은 상당히 넓었고 실내의 화장실은 넓고 개별히노끼욕조를 가진 샤워장이 따로 있었다. 물론 1층에 남녀분리된 대욕장을 가지고 있었는데 상당히 좋았다고 한다. 나는 룸에 딸린 욕실에서 즐겁게~^^
료칸에서 제공하는 가이세키요리를 맛보지 못하고 히다지방의 소고기를 폭풍흡입했지만 언제가 다시한번 찾고 싶을 만큼 좋은 곳이다.
단지 약간의 아쉬움은 다다미의 완벽한 청결상태가 내가 원하는 만큼이 아닌것과 출입구의 여행자들의 신발에서 나는 악취로 입구에 오래서 있을 수 없다는 것인데..개별신발장의 문을 달거나 특단의 조치가 필요하다. ㅋ.ㅋ
언어는 영어사용이 용이한 호텔리어가 있고 다른 분들은 일본어를 사용하더라는..
퍽이나 인상적이고 예쁜 편안한 여행지의 편안하고 좋은 휴식처였다..
