The rooms are spacious, safe and convenient for families visiting Kyoto. The drier at this property are very inefficient and we ended up spending a lot just to dry a load of clothing.overall, this is a good property with friendly and supportive staff.

We loved everything about our stay!
The check in process was easy. The room was beautiful and spacious. Vending and washer/dryer were very convenient. The grocery store and train station just around the corner! We were also able to leave our luggage locked until we had to catch the bullet train (a few hours post check out). It was a pleasant experience-my daughter can't wait to come back to Kyoto and stay here!

위치가 아주 번화가 쪽은 아니지만 강을 따라 걷는 길이 아주 좋았으며 한적하고 조용하고 이쁜 동네였습니다.
직원분들도 아주 친절했으며 호텔이 감각적이고 세련된 분위기입니다. 방컨디션, 구조, 청결, 서비스, 모든것이 저는 완벽했다고 생각합니다. 다만, 창이 열려서 환기를 시켰으면 했습니다. 바닥이 카펫인데 문이 조금밖에열리지않아 먼지가 많아 목이 아팠습니다. 그것만 뺴면 최고였어요.
그리고 이전에 누가 삼겹살을 구워먹었었나봐요. 그런건 금지시켜줬으면 좋겠습니다. 진짜 개념없는 관광객들이예요. 취사 가능해도 그정도는 아닌가 아실텐데.. 여기저기서 삼겹살 구워먹는 어글리코리안 되지맙시다 정말~!

The room is bigger and has kitchen amenities. They offer free foot massager very helpful for all those long walks form visiting all the beautiful places in Kyoto area. It is close to a train station to get you to different parts of Kyoto. It’s a mistake that we only spent 2nights and 3 days in Kyoto, should have stay longer. We are a big family of 5 adults and 4 kids. The kids love the room, they said they are going to give them “1000 stars”.

This was our nicest accommodation of our Japan trip and really suited our family of 6. Loved the location, gym and amenities. Staff were fantastic and great location with only a15 minute walk to the centre of town but close to subway stations and supermarket.

The rooms were modern, spacious, and well equipped for a long stay or large groups. The hotel was very kid friendly, had onsite currency exchange machine, multilingual staff, and tons of local recommendations. It was my favorite lodging of the five I stayed at during my two week trip.

I did have an issue with a hotel policy regarding room occupancy: I had 8 people in my party, booked two rooms with a total of 10 beds, but was not allowed to divide up the rooms upon arrival differently from my original booking without paying an additional fee of nearly $160. So we ended up with 2 people in one room with two empty beds and 6 people in another room filling all the beds. They said the policy was communicated and the issue may have been with Expedia. Either way, it was very frustrating but not a deal breaker. Just read the fine print and contact the hotel if booking through a 3rd party.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel.

The staff deserve 6 stars for it of 5 - so friendly, incredibly helpful and we appreciated the fact that we could receive such great service in English, as we unfortunately do not speak Japanese ourselves.

The ladies at the front desk were so very helpful with recommendations, making restaurant reservations and getting our luggage shipped to our next hotel.

My third time in Japan. I didn’t book this hotel at first but my sister in law did and I wound up booking it again for a few extra days. If you like having a kitchenette, forget and lots of room for three to five people, this place is for you. The staff is amazing and were able to speak perfect English to me. Love Mimaru!

Excellent stay! We stayed there with my family of six. The room was spacious, there was a bed for each of us. The hotel provided toiletries, pajamas, slippers. You can also order breakfast for the next day if you’d like. There a kids area and a gym. Communication was excellent. Property was walkable to Gion, Nishiki market, close cafes, dining, and shops.
Only downside was that the laundry was a coin laundry, which would’ve been fine except it took a couple turns to dry the clothes. Wash was $4cad and dry is $1cad.
Would 100% stay there again.

The room is bit smaller than my last place. I do love that they hold our stuff after we checked out to walk around and come back to retrieve it when we have to head out. Place is nearby bus stops to take us everywhere we need to go. It is near a market place so we can shop for food.

We had a pretty comfortable week long stay at this location. The room was very clean and very spacious. The staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly and are multilingual. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered routine room service - at least in my experience back home apartment style lodging doesn't typically include room service, but only towel replacements. Although, there was one day we did put up the Do Not Disturb sign and we came back to fully made beds and replaced linens, which was fine I guess. The beds were more firm for my liking and the pillows easily flattened, which I find with nearly every hotel which is why I travel why my own supportive pillow. The dryers don't completely dry a full load, so they may need an extra cycle to get the job done. The family below us were a bit noisy for 3 nights as we heard their kids running and jumping around their room late at night. The hotel itself isn't exactly close to the "hub" of shopping and dining, but is walkable to those locations if you don't mind a 10-15 min walk. But the 24hr Fresco Mart nearby is super convenient, especially if you plan on being an early morning bird for your excursions. Overall, I would honestly stay here again and I definitely recommend this place, especially for families or groups.

New and spacious apartment located at the quiet area of Kyoto. The premise is popular with western visitors, can be noisy and crowded at times.

The staff are so nice, thoughtful and hardworking in this hotel. Reception staff are so helpful and thoughtful. I was helped by Mayu, Maya, Latife, a very young Japanese man and more, they were all extremely nice and detailed oriented while helping.
The room was also lovely, very spacious for a Japanese hotel, well designed.

Mac at the front desk was so helpful and knowledgeable. Everyone was so nice and the rooms are clean, big enough for our family of 7. This Mimaru is much nicer than the one at Kinshicho in Tokyo. This one looks and feels 4-5 stars and we loved staying here. Thank you for our wonderful stay!

Great hotel in Kyoto

Great hotel. Good location for exploring Kyoto. Easy 20 minute walk through fine neighborhood from Kyoto Station. It was clean, well appointed, and just what we needed for a family of 4. Kids liked having their own bunkbeds, table was good for 4 of us to relax and not be sitting on beds or cramped. We'd certainly stay here again without hesitation.

This hotel was best hotel we stayed in during our Japan trip. The room was huge which so good when travelling with 3 teenagers, clothes washing and drying facilities, staff went above and beyond with helping us with any questions. Close to transport, markets, shopping, all key Kyoto sites. I cannot recommend it enough!

This is the best place for a family. It’s very roomy, clean, comfortable and the staffs are friendly and very helpful. They speak English very well. The location is walking distance to every where. There’s a grocery store right next to the hotel. We love it here and will definitely come back again. We booked 2bedroon stay and we love our room. HIGHLY RECOMMENDS this place.

I asked for a pitcher of water from one of the staff and they never returned with the pitcher. I waited for a long time and no one ever returned. Also the dryers do not work properly so unless you have a couple hours to spare I wouldn’t suggest trying to do a quick wash

The front desk staff was amazing at this apartment style hotel. I wasn't expecting first class service but we definitely got it! They provided us a dinner recommendation, booked the taxi and booked the table. It was one of the best dinners we had in Japan and was in Pontocho Alley, which is a pretty popular area! The room was beautiful, everything was comfortable. Had a great experience!

Everything was taken care of.

We enjoyed our stay very much. It is one or two blocks to the bus stop, but is convenient to walk to Pontocho and shopping as well as Gion across the Kamo River. The Fresco grocery store was next door.

The room had a nice kitchen and a spacious table for dining. The room was very large and even had a set of bunk beds which we didn’t need. The bed was firm but comfortable. It was in good a quiet location but close to many sites and to the bus system.

Fantastic apartment-style room. We (2 adults, 2 kids - 8&10) had lots of space. The kitchenette allowed us to make our own beeakfast most days. The hotel had small appliances that we could borrow such as toaster and rice cooker. Laundry on site was quick and efficient. We could not have asked for a better hotel.

The location was not ideal in that it was not very close to much of the shopping areas (eg. Nishiki market is about a 15-20 min walk). There is a grocery store across the street as well as a 7-11.

The subway to Kyoto station was a 10 min walk.

Overall a great experience and next time we are in Japan we will stay at a Mimaru in a more central location.

We booked a family room to accommodate three adults, two small kids, and a toddler. It was cozzy and confortable though we could have used a bit more space.

Having a kitchenette to cook breakfast and snacks was very convenient considering that there is a Fresco grocery store is around the corner.

They could use a few extra washing and drier machines since over the weekend they get very crowded.

They had a fun treasure hunt activity for the kids with a nice price at the end, motivating visiting the main spots in Kyoto.

Bus stations are a 2min walk and the main street markets Temarachi and Nishiki are about a 15min walk.

The staff was very helpful and friendly.

We were travelling with 2 kids and the rooms were very spacious in comparison to other properties we stayed at during our Japan trip.

While the cot was booked out the staff were able to provide us with a bed guard rail which made it really convenient for us.

The staff were super helpful in guiding us with booking train tickets to Osaka (non Shinkansen option) so we were able to book a premium car seats for a comfortable journey with kids.

There's a few transport options close by and a 24/7 Fresco right opposite. Kawaramachi main strip is about a 10-15 min walk and convenient.

This property was a hit with kids and we would definitely be returning to Mimaru in the future.

We loved the Mimaru apartment we stayed at. Fabulous and close to Gion, transport, eateries and a supermarket. The rooms were large for Japan and comfortable for a family.
Laundry and luggage storage available. The only disappointment was after arriving early, being charged 5000Y for an early check-in. Given we were staying 6 nights, I thought that was pretty steep.
The staff were very friendly.

Our family's favorite hotel in Japan!

A family of five spending two weeks in Japan staying in five different hotels, and this one was the best! The staff were all very professional, courteous, extremely helpful, and spoke good English. On more than a few occasions expectations were exceeded. Very happy with this choice.

It is kind of a shared space condo with a laundry room (the machines are not very well cleaned and the dryer needs an upgrade) . We lived there for four nights, and got no room cleaning at all, only change of towels and that is basically it. Unfortunately I can’t recommend it as a value for money choice.

Perfect hotel for families

Mimaru is an excellent choice for families. The rooms are well-organized and modern. My teen-age grandkids loved the bunk beds. The location is walkable to Gion and Nishiki market, also train stops.

My grandson left his camera in the room when we checked out, and we were already on the train to Tokyo when we found out. The front desk staff went well beyond expectations to help me get it shipped back home. Everyone was patient, kind and helpful from the moment we checked in. I would recommend Mimaru to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean and modern place to stay.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location of the property is not very close to main shopping or sight seeing area, but within 15 to 20 minutes walking distance. The bus stop is close by and only talk 2 to 3 stops to the main tourist area. The room is spacious and can accommodate 4 people. It has 24 hours convenience store next to it and has a 24 hours restaurant just across the street to provide food with reasonable price. Overall, I will recommend this hotel for those who visit Kyoto.

I really enjoyed my stay at Mimaru. The staff is great. They are very friendly and attentive. They were very helpful when I had questions and even went out of their way to help me have a great stay. I enjoyed my trip even more thanks to their help. The hotel is located a few minutes from a metro station and bus stop. There are restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance. We sometimes took a cab or a bus to the major sightseeing places and sometimes walked 15 to 20 min. I would definitely book this hotel on my next stay at Kyoto.

Kyoto stay

Highly recommend this hotel for family travel. It has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious and super clean. There’s also a kids room, vending machines for drinks (my kids love that) and cup o noodle vending machine, laundry facility, and a gym. It’s near a supermarket and 7-11 store which is super convenient. About 15 minute walk to the train station. The staff is super friendly. Will definitely stay again!!

What a great find! This apartment hotel worked perfect for our family of four on our two week trip in Japan. We got the two bedroom room and it was really big. Lots of space to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The property amenities of having a washer and dryer And space in the lobby to hang out in were great. The front desk staff were especially helpful and great to work with Our room was really clean and it felt like a newer property. I highly recommend it and would like to stay here or sister properties in the future. I wish they had them around the world.

The staff were friendly. The rooms were clean. We did hear a lot of stairway noise. Our room was at the end of the hall. It was loud enough to keep some of our party awake through a white noise machine. It was a bit of a walk to the nearest train station. It would have been nice to have the coffee, etc in the rooms. You had to remember to pick up packets in the lobby.

The room was well laid out and functional, the property had many good amenities, its location is perfect to walk to many attractions, and the staff were helpful and always available. Beautiful hotel, exceptional amenities (eg PJs) and friendly helpful staff who spoke fluent English. Our family of 5 stayed in a one bedroom loft apartment. It was so spacious having both a dining and living area, 2 toilets and big bathroom. Our towels were changed on request and we used the laundry downstairs a number of times. There’s a well stocked 7-11 across the road and a grocery store around the corner. Would have loved to stay longer to explore the area more. Staff were incredibly helpful in organising a dental appt nearby in less than 1.5 hours when my son’s braces broke. Incredible. Thank you!
